I finally got up the gumption{cash?} to register the 72 Torino Steve gave me. It goes down the road real nice! I took it to my friend's garage to get an inspection sticker, but it failed. The idler arm is worn out and the front brake hoses need to be changed. Appearently the last owner thought it was ok to peel the cracked parts of the hose off and cover them with silicone. Other than that,it's a real good car! not a sign of rust at all underneath!
When I went to the city hall to register it,I showed the clerk the bill of sale to pay the use tax. It says"sold for $1.00" on it.The clerk seriously asked if I took a loan out for it. I said,"Yeah,I still owe my brother a buck"! LOL! The use tax came to $.06!

This thing will be a great marauder! I plan to do the body and maybe try the paint. Also want a black vinyl top,and a set of really wides under it. The 3.50 rear from the other car will go in it,and I want to get a Gran Torino nose too. Maybe Highland green?

If you go back in this forum and look at the topic "my new Torino" you will see some pics. It has a 351C 2V with an Edelbrock manifold,a C4 and a 9" with 2.75 open. It is a rustfree Ca car that came up here and the owner lost interest. He sold it to Steve cheap, and being the kind big brother he is,he gave it to me! I plan to fix it as my own project and go cruising with it.
It's funny how it was classed as a midsize car, when it now dwarfs most fullsize cars of today! https://mustangsandmore.com//ubb/MyTorino.html

Regarding the size of your Torino, funny, that's what people say about my Fairmont - and to me it's small for a midsize Ford. I think your Torino even dwarfs the '78 LTDs.

Sounds like you have a great car!

It is! Usually these cars in the rust belt need floors and frame work. This thing is near perfect underneath.

I like both actually. The Gran nose looks like it's ready to bite a Chevy Chevelle in the A$$. The base parts are harder to find, and the grille l;ooks like it needs something.

I drove it for the first time last night and it was a blast! I stopped at a stop sign and a bunch of teenagers said "cool"! It is even growing on the wife. For a stock 351C with a Holley 600 and Edelbrock it moves right along! Even though it has a skip right now. I can't wait to get it cleaned up for cruising! Thanks Steve! You're the greatest brother anyone could have!

Naw, I wouldn't say that at all. You help me more than I help you by about a 10:1 ratio.

It's cool to see you cruise around with it.

Another old Ford stays on the highway!

I'm finding alot of things that are a quick fix on it. The p/s belt was squealing because the a/c and the pump share the same bolt, and it was the only one holding the a/c on the engine! Lots of little parts missing that I'm getting off the other car. None of the seatbelts,or the front seat for that matter, were bolted in! The scariest part is the previous owner was an airline pilot!
I talked to a guy that I barter parts with and he's coming over tommorrow to look at what I have to trade for a set of 15x7 magnums,or a set of 14x7 1970 corporates with trim rings and bottlecaps. We'll see what I can dicker.
