My buddy is thinning the herd. He wants to sell his '91 GT hatch. It has 50,900 miles. Bright red with black cloth interior. He has Centerline "Fluted GT3" rims and 245's on it. The other modifications are 3.73 gears, a K&N filter and Flowmaster 3-chambers. It's pristine and he's had it since new. BTW, he's a professional automotive technician so the car has had the oil changed every 2,000 miles. He was going to ask $7,500. I suggested starting at $10k and settle for $8,500. Whaddayall think he should sell it for? I think you gave him sound advice, Dave.Last November I bought my 1990 GT hatch from a buddy for 9K. I was going to buy it from him back in '96, but it didn't work out. My car has power everything except seats, along with a leather interior. At the time of purchase, It had the rear disk conversion, strut tower brace, 2 chamber Flowmasters, Eibach springs, 65mm T/B, K&N, underbody cold-air induction, chrome Cobra R's, and 10 CD stacker stereo system. It only had 45K miles on it. Plus, my buddy kept it IMMACULATE inside and out. I CONSTANTLY get compliments because of how extremely (and I mean extremely) clean it is. I've had several different people from Sacramento to Monterey tell me it's the cleanest looking Fox Body they have ever seen. So as for your advice, I'd say you were right on. Hopefully he'll find someone who knows how well he took care of it, like my buddy did. Stewart IP: 205.188.193.174 |

Dave, Id say you are right on track. My neighbor, and part time crew dude bought a 90 GT strawberry red repainted with over 90,000 miles on it for $3500. The guy wanted $6000 until I went and looked at it and told him we are not buying it. Then I picked the thing apart piece by piece for what it needed. We settled on a number and my bud is now an owner. A proud 1 at that =) So far, we have tuned it up, changed the hatch struts, put a stereo in it, and detailed the thing. 5.0 units are out there and at a good deal.Tony. IP: 209.240.220.232 |

UPDATE:He sold it to an 18-year-old with his hat on backwards and a pierced tongue and lip for $8,000. The kid already had a trashed '86 GT. I just know his beautiful pony is going to end up just like it. Maaaaan, I need to win the lottery so I can start a "Pony Rescue" for homeless and wayward Mustangs. Dave IP: 63.169.122.222 |

The ones who dont deserve them usually have the money :>(. An 18 yr old with $8K to spare, wonder if he is a drug dealer, has very well off parents with cash to blow for their lil "babys" (case of a lot of kids around here), or got a loan. ------------------ Tim M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 ci w/ a Holley 2300, Clifford header, and true duals w/ 26" Smithys http://all.at/mustang https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html IP: 24.11.225.170 |

I hate it when that happens. When I sold my 89 GT I screened the buyers more than they screened the car. Found a good person who I thought would take care of it and not abuse it, so I felt comfortable selling it to him. Unfortunately he traded it in a couple of years later and whoever bought it after that has beat the crap out of it. Makes me want to pull him out and beat him every time I see the car. It used to be beautiful and now it looks like a big garbage can. Hopefully this kid has turned the corner and will take care of it... we can always hope. ------------------ Cheers, Ian M&M Member #395 --------------- '79 Mustang Indy 500 Pace Car Ian's Pace Car Page IP: 209.53.81.13 | |
