help, i'm having a problem with my cat's cooling problem. i have pullies on my 5.0, plus i just installed some chrome steel radiator hoses. plus shorty headers that get really hot. however i can't drive more than 10 miles before my car starts boiling over. i replaced the thermostat, put on a different fan, cleaned out the radiator, and i'm wondering if the radiator hoses started the problem.IP: 170.91.246.2 |

You should check the thermostat. The things you have done should not cause overheating but a stuck thermostat will. IP: 207.24.72.12 |

Since you installed pullies; did you reinstall the belt correctly? Did you change the WP pully? If so; how much smaller?IP: 207.24.72.12 |

Did you burp your cooling system afterwards? Air in your cooling system will cause you to overheat. What you need to do is take the radiator cap off (when the car is cool) then start the engine up. Put the heater on full blast and let the car just idle there warming up with the cap off so air can get out. Once the car is warmed up (you will see the coolant start to move around more once the thermostat opens up) put the cap back on (dont forget to do this first :>) and shut the engine off. My dad was having a problem with his 5.0 overheating all of a sudden and all it took was for me to burp his cooling system (its a mystery still how the air got in, try and figure it out this weekend). ------------------ Tim 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 ci w/ a Holley 2300, Clifford header, and true duals w/ 26" Smithys http://all.at/mustang https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html IP: 24.11.225.170 |

i found out the problem. when i changed the fan ididn't realize that this cooling system makes the fan to turn opposite then other cars thats why the stock fans are shaped a certain way. when a mustang guru told me to go back to my stock fan/clutch system, and presto! no more heating problems! some things you just go ???IP: 170.91.246.2 |
