Did the '92 and '93 Mustangs have AODE trannys or AOD trannys? I always assumed they had the AOD, but I was shopping for tranny parts today and came accross some B&M stuff for 1992 1/2 and 1993 AODE cars.------------------ Greg Hackbarth Emberglow '66 Mustang 2+2 White '98 Mustang Coupe (currently selling) Red '92 LX 5.0 'Vert (buying this weekend!) AOD exclusivly through 1993 in 5.0 Mustangs Greg. FoMoCo switched to the AODE in 1994 in the V-8 Mustangs. Alex------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator

Thanks, Alex. I guess they were parts for a different model of car... perhaps the Crown Vic or something. Now I'm going to buy a shifter for my '92 AOD!IP: 24.4.252.238 |

What kind (brand) of shifter are you looking at Greg? Alex------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator

I'm looking at the B&M Hammer, since it fits in the console. I really like the Hurst Quarter Stick, but judging from their catalog it's only for the C4. Holcomb Motorsports makes a kit that allows you to install the Quarter Stick inside the stock console. I'm going to e-mail them to see if there's a Hurst for the AOD.IP: 24.4.252.239 |

Hammer look like a neat piece Greg. Why are you changing the shifter anyway? Alex------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator

Hey Greg, if you have a stick car and are converting to an Automatic, I would still just use a stock shifter. It will work just as easy, if not easier, and will fit a whole lot better with little effort. Also the shift cable is designed for the AOD in a fox body car with a floor shifter. Piece of cake to find a donor car in a yard for a shifter and stuff. When I sell my AOD race trans, I lan on giving the TV and shift cables with it.Tony. IP: 209.240.200.153 |

Well, it's an AOD car now, but I'm changing the shifter for a couple of reasons. Most importantly, I want to add a custom look to the interior of the car. I'm planning on restoring/customizing the interior a little (after all, one of the seats is just plain ripped), and I think the shifter would be a nice accent. Also, I may take the car to the track, and it's nice to be able to bang up through the gears without fear of throwing it into reverse. IP: 24.4.252.239 |
