It may be a lil late but here is what I know. Even before B&M sold its sc and marine divisions to Holley, they discontinued the 144 for the Fords small block. That only left the 174. I have talked to people with the 144's and they had to either cut a hole in the hood or get a cowl hood. If I remember correctly the 174 just goes further back than the 144 giving it the added displacement. When B&M still made the sc's, you bought them directly from them so I doubt anyone has leftover stock (plus the stoped the Ford 144's over a year before they sold it to Holley). Its amazing how much more something is worth when you add the Holley name to it :>). Summit now lists the satin Holley 174 for $2139.95. Through B&M it was less than $1600. I knew I should have bought one :>). I still want one but they arent such a deal at the new price. BDS makes a roots type for Fords but I cant remember the size (www.blowerdriveservice.com). BTW, Holley owns Weiand sc's also :>). Tim IP: 166.72.236.130 |

The Magnacharger is made from an Eaton sc ( http://www.magnacharger.com ) and is not for carb applications (dont even have one for the 5.0, say they serve the unrepresented market). If I recall correctly the T-bird supercoupe utilized an Eaton. It works like a Whipple (KenneBell), twin screw roots style sc. Nitrous looks like a cheaper option and can be turned off :>). Tim your right nitrous would be much cheaper but i really dont want to go that root, and a blower looks much prettier under the hood.ha ha.guess ill just go natural instead..but thanks for the help guys, you guys seem to know your stuff pretty well.solet me ask another question.my Stang is an 84,alot of parts out there say 86 and newer, not many parts say 84(i.e .flex-a-lite black magic fan, edelbrock elum waterpump #8840)can these be used on my 84?..thanksIP: 209.240.200.73 |

Contact eaton superchargers. I don;t know what discplacement there supers are but the make the for sn-95 cobras and the lightnig pickups so I'm sure the have something for you. If your on a budget I think they sell remanufactured units for quuite a bit less than new ones I also think they have a warranty. Some of that may pertain to different companies as I have spent the past few days reading through websites about supers. So Check out Eaton superchargers, Also check out Whipple industries they made the supers for the first F-150 Lightnigs back in the early 90's. Good Luck.Kris IP: 12.75.41.57 |

Whipple-Chargers are really nice. They are a screw-type similar to a Roots blower but are much more economical, ie they don't rob as much power from the engine as a roots blower does. Pricey is not a strong enough word to describe them, though...IP: 204.201.210.211 |
