Hey gang, anyone ever recall seeing Aluminum drums on any mustang, capri, fairmont, or any other fox bodied car???? Also, were all the rotors the same like I think they were????

Less weight means faster ET's!!!!!

Using the 10 inch rotors and spindles from early V-8 Mustang/Capris or any 4-cyl will save some weight. As for Alum. drums. I do recall reading somewhere that Ford did use some composite brake drums, Alum with cast iron liners, at sometime in the Fox chassis life but I couldn't tell you what model or year.

Less weight? I had a buddy that bought a 79 Mustang Ghia coupe, 302 4spd and it had a steel bumper bar all rusted out. He went to the salvage yard and found an aluminum one. Maybe they switched over later on anyway as far as I know. All I know is you could tell the difference in the rear bumper height afterwards.

Thanks for the idea Tyler. There was something I hadnt really though about. Then again, My car is an 86 Capri. I should look and see if it has alum bumper or not. I dont think it does. Any other ideas on saving weight as far as to not gut the car completely????
