Has anyone here heard of putting a 427/428 in a mustang II? I have a 77 fb and I've been thinking of putting something like this in it. Possible? Well, anything is possible, right? Is it feasable?

That'll be real front-heavy.

Remember the Quicksilver 460/MII ?

definately would be a little front heavy, but custom mounts, fenderwell headers, and a cowl induction hood would make it fit just fine.

Probably would be real nice with a rear sump pan and set back 8" or so.

Yes possible. Seen a 77 HB with a 460 featured a few years ago. a guy in Puyallup WA. First question is "do I want to modify the body?" Definetly would need at least subframe connectors, and some firewall mods. I have a 351 4V in my 74. Size is about the same because of the heads. Exhaust is the hardest part. I originally did not want to alter the firewall. This results in not being able to remove tranny. Have to pull motor/tranny together. It's real interesting to do. haha After doing this about 4 times, I have obviously decided to box the firewall to get the c-4 (large dia flywheel)out by itself. If you must do a 427/8 need to have aluminium everything to get weight back down comperable to a 351w. Maybe get some handling other than nose steer.

I tried to stuff a 427 in my Pinto, used the Mustang 390 block mounts and 302 frame mounts and an FE scattershield,it fit right in place of 289,i never ran it tho,i just wanted to see....headers didnt look like they would be that bad, except around starter.
Weight tho is a problem, distribution would be awful, but it can still work OK,definately use alum intake and waterpump, lightweight starter and small alternator, rear mount battery, whatever can be done to cut weight.

You'd probably want to use engine plates, cut the firewall and mount it as far back as you could.

A better motor for a Mustang II would be a stroked 351W. There are kit that go up to 435ci. You have the cubic inches, and the lighter weight of the Windsor block.

It was just a thought. I probably will never do that kind of swap. the 351 does sound interesting.

Alex, if I went to all the trouble to do that swap--- I DRIVE. I still don't have my II together yet anyway. That comes first.
