This being our first holiday season together, LuAnn and I had to decide when to open our packages. On Christmas morning we're going to have brunch with her dad and the evening is when my family does it's thing. Therefore, Christmas eve evening will be it for us. So, when is it for you? Christmas eve, Christmas morning (Tim, do you get your parents out of bed at 5:30? ), Christmas evening or do you have some other tradition?Merry Christmas Dave

Always Christmas Morning...(Now afternoon after Christmas Dinner)...I notice that KK and Ked haven't replied to this post...They are ashamed! Let them tell you how they used to get up at 3 and 4 o'clock on Christmas Morn...I'd hear them shuffling around the tree and trying to decide whose gift was next. Ed and I finally told them on Christmas Eve.."It's OK to get up when you wake up but be real quite, go back to bed after you find Santa's gifts, and wait until we get up to open our wrapped gifts... They used to beg to open gifts on Christmas Eve "because the Huffman's do"...(Next door neighbor kids)...

Christmas morning, here. I'm not ashamed to admit, either, that I am the first one up just about every Christmas morning. Had to get my kids outta bed a couple of those years! We always had our Santa gifts unwrapped, but my husband's family always had their's wrapped. So, my kids get wrapped gifts from Santa (kinda a pain, but it is fun to see them open them in the morning). How about everybody else??? Santa gifts, wrapped or unwrapped????

Everything is wrapped and major pita to open up. I wrap just like my dad always does, nice and tight, looking perfect with lots of tape so you have to hunt for somewhere to open the present up at . I have never been able to sleep late on Christmas - no matter how hard I tried. My mother always slept until 10 or 11, so Dad said I couldn't open anything until she got up The agony of waiting! Now I still have to wait - even later - we don't open until after our family dinner. No time to enjoy the gifts as far as I'm concerned.Merry Christmas to all of you! My parents always had my brother's stuff wrapped in green tissue paper on one part of the coach and my stuff wrapped in red paper on the other, this was the stuff from Santa. The things that were from my parents were wrapped in regular Xmas wrapping paper. I think we usually got up at some ungodly hour, my poor parents. I agree completely with you there, Tim. I love watching the expressions as people open their gifts and its something they really love. When I was growing up, my Slovak grandmother always a seafood dinner (I'm guessing it has something to do with Catholic fasting) and my aunt would take the eight grandchildren upstairs to read, "The Night Before Christmas". Before long, we heard sounds on the roof and bells and eight kids scrambled down the stairs to open presents. Later I learned someone from the Church would play Santa and he would stay a few minutes before the opening frenzy began. THEN, we went to midnight Mass and would be awakened to go to 9:30 Mass in the morning. We had our big meal, usually ham, around noon, and the relatives would scatter visiting other family and friends. When the girls were small, we always opened "Santa" presents on CHristmas morning, but as they've outgrown the tradition, we've gone back to the fish dinner and presents on Christmas Eve. Not that I want them anytime soon, I'm sure we'll go full circle and do Christmas morning, once we have grandchildren. So, there's my novelette. Merry Christmas!! ------------------ Sherra Blue 73 Mach I

Sherra, its always interesting to find out where peoples traditions come from. I think Ashley should read this, she told me she didnt know why you all switched a few years back . Speaking of traditions we all always get a stocking and have counted on some things always being in there: 1) an apple and an orange, 2) socks, and 3) underwear. The apple and the orange come from traditional Christmas' over in Europe where they would get fruit in their stocking (being winter time and all) but I have no clue where the other two came from My brothers wife escaped last year because she was "just" his fiancee but she too got all three things in her stocking this time (my mom warned her last year) . Its funny explaining traditions to people because after a while you start thinking "doesnt everyone do this?" . ------------------ Tim M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 I6, Holley 2300, Clifford header, true duals w/ 26" Smithys 1988 Mustang GT AOD vert, 15.810 @ 88.871 mph 100% stock w/ no traction 1976 Silverline Comoro 18' trihull ski boat, 188 hp 302 I/O, another toy http://all.at/mustang https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html
