that's right... I am "Fordless" for the first time in my life. But it's OK. My 64 Fairlane and all of my extra parts went to good homes. This story starts in July 2001 when I quit my job as the chief engineer for a pair of radio stations in Denver, CO. The job was burning me out and not leaving me enough personal time. There were no hard feelings between myself and the company when we decided to part ways. I left to start my own broadcast engineering services company. I retained the company that I previously worked for as a client and picked up a few more customers. It wasn't perfect, but my head was above water, my client list was growing and I didn't have to worry about my pager going off while in the staging lanes at Bandimere. Then 9-11... long story short, due to monetary concerns from the broadcasters' parent companies, all outside contractors and projects were cancelled for the forseeable future. I was out of work in Denver. After a few months, money got tighter and tighter. With my family's urging, I decided to move back east to Maryland. I figured I would sell the stuff I could sell easily, put some stuff into storage, and load up the fairlane and assorted parts on a uhaul trailer and tow back to Maryland About 10 days from moving day, it became apparent that the plan was not going to work. I had enough money to get back to my parent's house but not enough to pay the bills. I tried to make it by selling the parts that I had, but it still wasn't enough. My Fairlane had to go and go quick. Through the help of some good friends, I was able to sell everything to good homes and get reasonable money for it all. I drove my Dodge 1500 (I know.... but I got a great deal on it) 1800 miles to my parent's house in Maryland, minus a hot rod, but with a huge smile on my face because through it all, I have a family that is willing to do anything for me and I can now see the smiling faces of my 4 year old nephew and 16 month old neice any time I want to. Now all I need to do is find a job before my parents change their mind and decide to kick their 34 yr old little boy out of their house Sorry this is so long, but I felt that I needed to tell my story. I need to quit lurking so much... Hopefully I'll be out hot rod shopping by summer!!! Happy Holidays everybody! Chris ------------------ 64 Fairlane Hard top 289 4-speed -- SOLD to a good home.

You made the right decision, family has to come first. As things get better you will once again be the proud papa of another ford. Until then keep your head above water, be nice to your parents and please don,t buy a " CHEBY " JOHN ------------------ 65 2+2 FASTBACK 68 COUPE 87 TAURUS WAGON 98 F150 XLT 4 WHEEL DRIVE Member: Vancouver Island Mustang Association M&M #1710 MyPhotoPage

Good attitude, Chris! Sometimes you need to step back and regroup. My motto has always been 'Some things may slow me down, but NOTHING stops me!' Now just start looking for an F-150 to trade that Dodge for! ------------------

Hey Chris, I know those places rather well...especially Adam's (mmm...ribs). And Bateman's has some great wings. Mmmmm...And heck, I'm about a mile away from AACC. Just a little further up College Parkway. I work down at the Sam's Club in Annapolis. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good" '76 Cobra--project

Thanks for giving us the update. You have a wonderful attitude. Sorry things didn't work out for your business, but you now get to be closer to your family and that's great. Good luck, or hopefully a turnaround in 2002! Best wishes, Joyce

Hang in there, Chris. It's a tough time for a lot of folks, but at least you have the support of a loving family behind you. I too believe that everything happens for a reason.

Thanks for all of the kind words. I have to admit, it's been kind of nice being able to actually enjoy the holidays without having to worry about going back to work right away!! I normally tend to be more like Alex during the Christmas season, but not this year.Happy Holidays!! Chris
