Woooo hoooo! It aint the mountain puller I've always dreamt off (Powerstroke Diesel) but it's a TRUCK! I finalized the deal for the truck over the phone tonight. It's a 1994 F-150 XLT extended cab with 112K miles on the 5.0 engine. It's fully loaded with power everything, except seats, and has a bed liner, tool box, and lumber rack (all in excellent shape) already on the truck. It needs a front end alignment and the air bag clockspring needs to be replaced. Other than that and it's in terrific condition! I am so stoked! I have to pick it up tomorrow. Kelly Blue Book has the value of the truck at $7,440. The asking price was $6,600. We agreed on a selling price of $5,800. Not a bad deal considering I looked at a lot of trucks and all the others had a lot of little problems (broken latches, gear shift indicator not working, lumbar support broken, temperature adjustment switch not operating properly, etc) and all of those trucks were at a higher asking price! Yep, I'm jazzed! Gonna detail that sucker out and then convince Renee to let me buy more stuff for her Mustang NOW, so I can swap the stuff onto the truck!! Does anyone know how to convert a non-HO 5.0 to HO? I know I should really follow this up in the Truck Forum, but are you serious, Steve? I thought it wouldn't be too hard, with the main component needed being an HO computer from a donor Mustang. Stewart [This message has been edited by Stewart (edited 12-19-2001).]

I knew about the cam, heads and intake...and figured the computer too...but wasn't sure about anything else. Why do I need to replace the pistons? Stewart

We just sold ours. I miss it already. Wife had to have the third row of seats with kid #3 on the way. This way they can take their buddies to any functions we go to. Thus, out with the F150, in with the Expedition. What a beast. This thing is huge. Good thing for me that she's the truck lover, and I get to keep my 'stangs!!

Good purchase Stewart! There is a fair amount of work involved in making it into a HO. It might be worthwhile to just modify the existing engine in a "truck" format. Install headers, exhaust, K&N FIPK, Edelbrock makes a truck specific intake and throttle bodies. Other than that, the easiest way to make it a HO is like Steve said, swap the whole motor in. ------------------ 2002 F350 4x4, True Blue, v10 Auto, 4.30LS, 35" BFG's 1991 Mustang LX 5.0L, AOD *need to sell* 1970 Cougar, 351C-4v, C6

And if you are gonna go thru that much trouble, might as well stick a 351W in it instead. (kinda like my Lightning)

I love trucks Stewart! Congrats on getting yours. I think the difference in the motors was that the truck engine is built for torque and stability, where the stang engine is built for hp and reving. I would go with a good exhuast now and some headers, hi flow cat backs, see how that does.------------------ joe 2001 SVT Cobra 68 GT Fastback 98 F-150 90 Escort GT (smokes the tires in all 5 gears, or just smokes through all gears)

Some how I missed this post.I too have a 94 f150 not the same as yours, its a flat bed with 5spd,and a 3.0L six,yes power is not a word I use with that truck. But man you can get alot of mattress on it. I love having a truck there is always some thing to haul around. The truck as needed every little work over the years. As for power go for the Exhuast side 1st.And get a 75 hp shot of juice, and gears ,and you'll be fine. Most of the stuff you can find at Summit or Jegs. Other places include http://www.4wheelparts.com/ or http://www.truckperformance.com/. Just go pick up a truck/4x4 magazine, full of ads and shops.
