GREAT looking car. At the Ford dealer where I work we sold 2 of them. 1 red & 1 green. They look cool for a new car. Now if they would only produce the Ford 49.

i went and looked at 'em the other night... OK actually i went to gaze at the dealers receptionist babe... but the T-Birds were in the showroom... and i did take pix... of the cars too! Lotsa room under the hood if you lost all the late model plastic crap to put a 390 or 428 in it.

Nice interior, battery sits under the trunk floor.

The only think i thought looked funny was the taillights and there seems to be too much space between the seat and trunk... like the wheelbase shoulda been 3" shorter.

They are all presold, and $57grand anyways... so unless the Brinks truck crashes in front me...

I've seen a few around. I"m not sure I really care for the grill to much...looks too much like an old vette. The ford 49 is cool, but I really wouldn't mind getting my grubby paws on a mercury maurader(sp?). Last I read they were actually going into production, but I haven't seen one at the dealer yet. Has that changed?

I heard that Ford dealers are supposed to have new Bird buyers sign an agreement to not sell their vee-hickle (Ned Jarrett) to a non-dealer for at least six months. Apparently, that's supposed to prevent the severe gouging that went on when the PT Cruiser was introduced.
Anyone remember those highly ethical foreign car dealers out in California in the early eighties? Adding a supplemental sticker with all kinds of extra junk (fabric protection, rust-proofing, etc.), including "ADM" (Additional Dealer Mark-Up). Hope they all lost their shirts on Yugo franchises.
Tom
p.s. Is the new Merc Marauder going to have a V-10?

Yeah! God forbid that someone else do "severe gouging" other than the Ford Dealers!! Opinion. Oh well, I'd rather have a slightly restomodded {engine, trans, brakes, steering, etc.} 55 Bird, anyway! LOL! Might as well wish big! That Bird is the ONE new car that I want.

Steve $57K Canadian is about 75 cents US i think now

They must not sell for just the $40K sticker if a Canadian dealer got caught auctioning the only 4 T-Birds he would get this year down in Seattle a couple weeks ago.

saw a new bird at a local dealership in parksville, had a 55 sitting next to it. nice car, but, just not all there. I thought it was a mistake putting them side by each. The 55 was the class act hands down. The salesman told me that a young fellow purchased the car ( new model ), he was planning to lower it and add the import sewing machine mufflers, under-body light kit, a zillion watt sound system and low profile pizza cutter tires. Some people have way to much money and time on their hands.
