I got a package in the mail today and it contained a rear diff gear set for the Silver Fox!A big HUGE "thank you" to Nancy (Stang4Me) for hooking me up with these gears....FOR FREE!! How cool is that?!? Nancy was kind enough to hook me up with a 3.73 R&P gear set from a Ford Explorer with less than 20K miles on them! They are in perfect working order, except for a bearing that needs to be pressed off and replaced with a new one. Now all I hafta do is buy a rebuild kit for my leaking diff and then get hooked up with someone who is excellent at this kind of work, yet reasonable in price! Alex, I'll be talking to you about your friend in Reno! THANKS AGAIN NANCY!! These were originally offered to Sam, Joyce...that's how I found out about them. Unfortunately Sam has a different rear diff and couldn't use them, so she was generous enough to allow me to have them!! Capt. Dave, I already have to watch out for my former colleagues! Stewart

Glad you got them Stewart! They weren't entirely free. I did make a $1.40 profit. I had UPS quote me a price on shipping those they said $12.00. So I emailed Stewart with the shipping price and when his check came I wanted to get them sent off as soon as possible. UPS is only open for 3 hrs in this valley. So fed up I went to USPS and they charged me $10.60. Sorry Stewart! But at least it's better than paying $189.00 plus S&H! I think 4.10's would have been way too low. But that's just me. Try these I think you'll love them. Is your Stang Auto or Standard?

I believe I can safely answer that for stew his car is a manual. I know you aren't supposed to fear the gear, but I don't know if I'd like 4.10's in my 5spd. I had 2.73's, upgraded to 3.55's when I changed cars. Loved them. Swapped them out with 3.73's cuz the .55's were noisey. Now I REALLY love the .73's. They are about perfect. I don't know if I'd like more gear than I have now. I still manage to get between 24-26mpg on average. I fear that with more gear I'd lose that. Plus I'd probably loose some top end, and would definatly loose some freeway pickup with gears that low. Stew, make sure you find someone who's done it before, and that they'll reshim it if she makes noise!------------------ -FISHTAIL 92GT "The Ghetto Sled" CMPS major @ University of MD college park Best ET/MPH thus far: 14.40/100.67mph....damn wheel spin. I know why 3.73s are better but he has always preached about "not fearing the gear" and how he was gonna use 4.10s . I knew I should have kept my mouth shut . The gears are after I fix the exhaust leak (which is hopefully the noise) and replace the heater core . Luckily I get 6 weeks off for Christmas and will only be working full time . ------------------ Tim M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 I6, Holley 2300, Clifford header, true duals w/ 26" Smithys 1988 Mustang GT AOD vert, 15.810 @ 88.871 mph 100% stock w/ no traction 1976 Silverline Comoro 18' trihull ski boat, 188 hp 302 I/O, another toy http://all.at/mustang https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html

LOL! Well, here's the deal. Originally I wanted to upgrade to 3.55's. I just thought that 3.73's would be too much for driving at freeway speeds. After reading quite a bit about gears and the related performance of the gears, I decided to go with 3.73's. Well, in talking to Alex and asking for his opinion, he said I should get the 4.10's. But I "feared the gear" and the freeway RPM's, as well as losing top end speed (like I really need to go faster than 140 anyway), as well as what my MPG would be. As my decision on what kind of heads/intake/cam I wanted started to firm up, I did more studying and found others who had the combo that I wanted, strongly recommended a numerically higher gear because of the loss of low end toque. So I decided to get 4.10's. I figured since I wanted the T5Z tranny anyway (.63 final gear) that the 4.10's wouldn't be too bad on the freeway. Well, when Nancy was kind enough to offer me these gears, do you really think I'm gonna turn down a perfectly good set of FMS, OEM, FREE gears??????? Heh heh heh...I don't think so! So I'll just have to "make due" with the free 3.73's instead of shelling out $200+ for a set of 4.10's! Thanks again, Nancy! Stewart PS - Serves ya right, Tim!

Speaking of Nancy's generosity....My daughter Heather's 93GT has had repeated problems with the clutch. Last week the clutch cable broke. During one of the prior repairs they had replaced the entire clutch assembly with Ford Motorsport-SVO parts. So a standard clutch cable won't work now. We were told the appropriate Motorsport cable was on backorder and could take up to six months. (I was going to give Ray a call!). Except Nancy happened to have a spare which she was planning to put in her hubby's 93. She loaned us her spare so Heather's car could get back on the road. Which I appreciate immensely since Heather had been using SGRPLUM, my daily driver. Nancy said we can just give her the cable that is backordered when it comes in. What a great friend! J.
