It's breathing again! Now to set the valves, put the montecarlo bar and hood back on. Fingers crossed that it lives a long and happy life. SteveW

I've got metallic copper oil and it hasn't been out of the garage yet. Not sure whether to run it or do it over. Anyone ever have this with a freshen up? It's soo much work, but I want it to be right. The only thing that wasn't checked was the block. Anyone have a fresh 351w block for sale? SteveW

I was talking about Steve's Truck. It was Glens Mustang you were talking about. But if I bring my car I'd love to race SteveW and Mel's Mustang. It would be ok to lose to such a BAD ASS car.Besides maybe my big SCOOP would distract them. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

Several years back, a buddy of mine bought a 393W from RDI for their dirt track car. They hurt the bearings in it and sent it back to RDI to get it fixed. RDI told them, it usually takes 3 or 4 oil changes before they get all the bearing material out of the passages from the initial damage. Not sure how accurate that is, but it's what he was told.

Thanks Rob, I have to agree! Even though I scrubbed this thing and even blew out the oil passages with the galley plugs removed. I'm sure there were some nooks and crannys with copper in them. SteveW

Hey Scoop, I was looking at your mph and noticed that it would be a good race between my aod pig of a vert and your '65 (my best 60' was a 2.6 something) . Thats if I ever get the time to get the damn totally apart and back together . ------------------ Tim M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 I6, Holley 2300, Clifford header, true duals w/ 26" Smithys 1988 Mustang GT AOD vert, 15.810 @ 88.871 mph 100% stock w/ no traction https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html

You single guys! I remember when I chased tail all night long and didn't have time to do anything too. But that was a long time ago. Now I go to work and think about what I should/could be doing to the cars. It got so bad this morning that I took the afternoon off. LOLSteveW p.s. Tell the young lady that you'll be busy for the next week or so and finish the stang! (in my best "father knows best" voice)

Steve, talking with you this morning probably didn't help huh? I chatted with Ron for a bit and researched tires too. It's hard when you can't get your hobby out of your head. Erik p.s. Don,Here's some info on the event, http://www.fordlovers.com/specialevents.htm But with a new engine and rear suspension to figure out, we'll probably be using it to tune the car. SteveW

Don see if you can make it down to Sac on the 4th.SteveW I know what your talking about. There are days I bring small projects to work with me.I have rebuilt a few carbs at work already.Only on the boss's days off,and only if we are slow.Thats the best part of having your brother as your only other co-worker for now.I spend every day thinking about the things I need to get done. But I still don't seem to find enough time to do them. Tim if I bring the car your on.If not my dad is bringing his stock 88GT 5spd he runs about the same times as you. That would be a good race too.I love to race any one win or lose it's fun,ok so it's more fun to win. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

See, thats my problem. I'm in my last semester (full time) and working full time and trying to keep the woman happy . Ron, the 5.0 wont be there this weekend but I will be in the '65 (no, I wont be running it ). I want to get the 5.0 totally apart and as long as I didnt take out a piston too I want to have it back up by May 16th. ------------------ Tim M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 I6, Holley 2300, Clifford header, true duals w/ 26" Smithys 1988 Mustang GT AOD vert, 15.810 @ 88.871 mph 100% stock w/ no traction https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html
