Earlier this week I watched Drag Racing Today, I'm not sure of the show title but it was on ESPN2. They were covering a Thursday night "run what ya brung" meet at Bristol Tennessee. What I found interesting was looking at the cars in the staging lanes it appeared that about 80% of them were fox Mustangs. I was wondering if that is the case other places. The first racer they interviewed had just bought a brand new Mustang Cobra and took it and his slicks straight to the drag strip. Reminded me of myself in years past. John

That's my next project. A 90 - 93 Fox body. Hope to start it in about 18 mos. I really like the realtive low $$$$/speed ratio. Seems like you can get them to go fast for less $$$$. Around here, its still the Chebbie crowd. We have some fox bodies, but its mostly GMs. Maybe we can get 2 Fords to the track within the next 2 yrs.

I feel your pain on the Chevy thing. Most of my friends run Chevy products. I do have have to say that none of them have much luck tangling with me stock suspension for stock suspension.Hands down the FOx Mustang is one of the best for true 10.5 racing. The picture the other day was of my car on a motor pass. Here is some with the fogger turned on. Needless to say I changed the suspension around and it no longer does it this bad.. The car will carry the wheels like that for at least 400' rd

WOW,they should give you a count down. Thats a heck of a wheel stand. Around here there are plenty of 5.0's at the track. But it's better the seeing chevys every where. The 5.0's seem like the best bang for the buck, right now.SCOOP ------------------ 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

D_ _ m, wireman, better ground that thing or NASA will be coming to get you That's kinda what I have in mind, when I can afford to do it. Not quite that drastic, but a low 12 or high 11 sec. fox body is what I would like to have. I know you probably have already posted the engine specs, but I don't remember seeing them. Would like to know, if you don't mind posting them. And, how do you get it to hook up?

The motor is somewhere around 500" with an aluminum CJ head, Coan C6 and a 9". Those pictures were of the car on a 225 tune up in the fogger foot braking. People do not believe there is no trans brake in the car. I have since taken delivery of a new JPT power glide and converter. Hopefully it will leave a little harder. Not that it needs to do that. As far as suspesnion is concerned, it is all Wolfe in the rear. I have the double adjustable lowers and uppers along with their anti roll bar. It also has a Wolfe cage with through floor subframe connectors. The front is all stock, for now.. That is changing this weekend. I am doing the AJE moly K-member and A frames along with all light weight brakes. It still has the stock tank with a sump. I am moving the fuel system to the front and only going to use a 3 gallon cell. No more street driving. Yes, the car is "street legal" and is driven out to the local cruise spots on Saturday nights. Right now it weighs 3420 with me in it. At the time those pictures were taken the car weighed 3550 with me in it. I am hoping to get it down to 3200. So far my best time to date is an 8.87 @ 157 back in August. If you know what the TX summers are like you can figure what the air was, BAD! I have a few more pics here and a video of a low 9 pass clicky clicky So in a nutshell, that is the car. I have a few pics of the cage and such if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the info. I will get my fox body some day. Will never get to where you are though. It sure is a nice set up. I'm interested to know the N/A times as well. I'm not much on power adders. Just tweak the ole Holley's to get the best you can and let her rip. But that launch attitude is wild. Is it scary not seeing the track for the first 100 ft?

As long as the car goes straight, it doesn't bother me to leave the front wheels dangling. It went a 9.76 @ 140 NA. I am in the process of finishing up the new motor as we speak. The new power plant is a C460 headed beast. They flow close to 200 more CFM on the intake and 150 on the exhaust more than my CJ heads. The new combo will be bigger and still run a single 4. I am hoping for an 8 second time slip on motor. Hopefully I will be able to take care of some of those pesky turbo cars that I run against. rd

I Like the flames... But I like to keep my cars plain looking so I can sneak up on unsuspecting chevies... Around here, if you have a fancy paint job it scares all of those guys.. Heck, I like the sleeper look of a refrigerator white car.. I have had so many people tell me that before they saw my car make a pass, they were guessing maybe an 11 second ride.. Then I rip an 8 second pass and the crowds swarm.. Just about finished with the K-Memeber and transmission swap.. Waiting on my gears and drive shaft. I hope to test this weekend. I will let you guys know how it worked. rd [This message has been edited by Wireman (edited 10-15-2002).]

I agree Wireman, I love the stock look with all that potential. I have a question. What are the two vertical links and the attatched crossbar on your rear end housing? Is that just for towing or am I missing something?

Yeah, I think it's one of those lame Alston anti roll bar deals. Yes, that is an anti-roll bar. Before I put it on the car, it would corkscrew badly. ie, lift the left front about 8" higher than the right. Once I added that piece, it now leaves with both tires level. I finished up the AJE k-member last week and went testing Sunday. I really like the way the car feels now. It did have the stock k-member and brakes. It now has the AJE moly k-member, a arms and struts along with the Wilwood brakes. The car lost 159 pounds. At the track the numbers were most pleasing. The last pass of the night yielded a 9.51 @ 143. The car actually ran the first 60' better NA than it ever has on the nitrous. Should be very interesting when I turn the bottle on. I have a big true 10.5 race this weekend and will keep you guys posted. rd
