Was working on the coupe to day and rev'd the engine a couple of times quickly and a ball of fire shot out the carb. It started back up and runs fine so timing is out of the question. Any suggestions as to what I should look at? ------------------ Ted Friendswood,Tx. IP: Logged |

WAG time: by revving it a couple times you dumped the full shot of the accelerator pump and it coughed back the extra fuel? Alternatively, by revving it you emptied the accel pump resovior and then revved it again adn it was lean so it coughed?------------------ Marcus Fast, Reliable, Cheap.... And then you have to ask yourself..."why did I do that?" *G*Usually pops come from errant timing or a lean condition... Lack of pump shot usually caused the few pops I've had on the race car...other than initial firing when the timing might be a bit off.. How does the car launch? Do you have a 50cc pump (if a Holley)? I run an air cleaner on the race car to help avoid scorching the underside of my hood scoop in case of fireworks...*G* One last thing...are you running a long-duration, high overlap camshaft? I've found engines with those are less forgiving of timing or fuel/air ratio (and pump shot) errors... Pat ------------------ 64.5 D-code coupe 65 A-code FB drag car IP: Logged |

Running the 50 cc pump on the primary side with #28 squirters. I still think I'm not getting enough off the line. I will be trying #32 squirters this coming wed.Cam specs I would have to go look up. What would you consider long duration high over lap? IP: Logged |
