Hey guys, I am trying to decide if I really need a set of stud girdles for my heads... spring pressures shoudl be around 125 on the seat and 330# open. Max Rpm's will be ~7200 Q: Do I really need them? The heads will be setup with 7/16 studs an roller rockers. I was told that with a solid flat tappet cam I could count on doubling or trippling my time spent checking valve clearances if I used them. Also has anyone seen a main bearing girdle for a 335 series motor? I know Roush used to make a support that was seperate for each bearing but I don't think he makes it anymore.. Any chance of modifying one designed for a 351W or a 460 to do this? and of course, with the intent of this motor, should I even be worrying about it? I run springs that are 150 on the seat and 380 on the nose. Cam is .571 / .605 lift. I,ve run this cam for 12 year5s and over 800 1/4 mile passes with a stud gurdle. I do have to replace the springs every 250 passes though. ------------------ D French 67 427 Fairlane(A/SA) 73 Mustang 351c IP: Logged |

How is adjusting the valves with the girdle? Is it a PITA?------------------ Marcus Fast, Reliable, Cheap.... Pick any TWO of these words. 68 Mustang, still in purgatory. BOYCOTT EXCESSIVE MOTORSPORTS IP: Logged |

Yes Marcus, adjusting the valves with a girdle is a "pain in the *** "! You DO NOT need a girdle for your application. NHRA/IHRA stocker 351C's turn in excess of 8000 RPM with stock rockers and no girdles as the rules do not allow them.
