Besides the "Crate engine" article, wasn't there a how to in the last few years that showed the components needed to transform a 460 into a 514. I'm confused about the right combination of crank, rods, and pistons for this combo.I think I remember the 429 crank and rods used with the 460 block and pistons yielded the 514 size. BUT I can't find my article and don't trust my memory. Thanks, Dan IP: 12.74.121.162 |

To make a 514 a 460/429 block is rored .080 over to 4.44", a 460 crank is offset ground to a 4.15 in. stroke, with a 2.200" rod journal and uses 6.8" BB Chevy rods and custom pistons. Stock stroke is 3.59 for a 429 and 3.85 for a 460, stock rods are 6.605 with 2.300 rod bearing. Some kits are 512" with 4.14 stroke. PAW also has a kit that uses a block bored .110" over. Hope this answers your questions.jason IP: 209.143.24.237 | |
