I have a mallory dual point with mechanical advance and I want to put pertronix in it. Do I just buy the 65-73 dual point kit? Also, where can I buy a new cap and rotor for it? Thanks, steve

I have had one pertronix unit go out on me.I've also heard of many others going out too.I would try the crane unit to see if it holds up better.

I think that Petronix gets a bad rep. I have had one in my 72 Mach 1, and my wife's 77 MGB for years and years with absolutely no trouble.

Ive broken both
But just so you know they do honour their warranty

the biggest difference is that the ignitor II needs a resistor wire bypass and gives an even bigger spark because of that. it also varies dwell on the fly for an optimised spark at higher RPM's. I think the crane unit is a little cheaper than the ignitorII and does the same thing even if you dont need the rev limiter. However none of has tried the crane unit yet (that I know of)
