ok. Just picked up my first 65. body and drivetrain are solid but the paint blows. The guy that owned it took a DA sander to the whole car, then took it straight to maaco because he got tired of sandin' (no blocking)Anyway, the thing is still striaght for the most part and it is just a driver. Can I do a block job on the body and have it pried/sanded and painted over the maco job? or do I need it to be completely stripped. Ron

Ron,welcome to M&M these guys are great.I would sand it down,if for no other reason. To see if theres any rust. And start from there,at least then you'll know that the new paint will stick and last.Ron ------------------ 65 Coupe with a 351w, RPM intake,carter625,shorty 1-5/8 headers,2.5 exhaust,Flowmasters, stock C4,peg leg 8" 2:80,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,Cragers SS,Black Suede finish. Ron, Welcome to Mustangsandmore.com. Glad to have you here with us. I would sand or have the car block sanded and/or media blasted to see how solid it is. Who knows what kind of rust or other sins you may find under the paint. You are going to pay for a good paint job no matter what. So why not do it right the first time. Just my opinion. You have a really straight looking '65. Have fun and post often. Again, welcome to the M&M extended family. Sam's Place is another forum here at M&M where we talk about anything and everything. It's a lot of fun.Dave & Terri ------------------ Poison Ivy (Dave's) '65 Fastback Modified 289 4V, C-4, dual exhaust, styled steel wheels, rally pac, A/C Blue Belle (Terri's) '66 Coupe, Silver Blue Metallic, 351W 2-V, 4 speed, A/C, future sleeper.

Nope. gunna dump the blue. Going with a light silver. If I get crazy and go for GT or shelby type stripes they are going to be a charcoal metalic.Ron ------------------ Ron computer geek by day, Gear head by night Http://ron.oglesby.com/mustang.html
