For those interested in the 71/73 floor pans: The 71/73 floors that Goodmark is selling out came in FED EX Today.THEY LOOK NICE Heavy metal EDP coated and with the floor plugs already installed. The ribbing is deep and the cut looks excellant. The dimensions are correct. The Only thing negative is that they are made in Taiwian. I hear that Taiwian steel is not as good a US Steel, but I have no knowledge of anyone else having these SO lots of epoxy primer and I think they will be just fine.------------------ Bob 71 J code 429 SCJ-R Sportsroof C6 4:11 IP: 206.141.249.248 |

If they're like the ones that I used on a 66 cvt.,than they're not but they will be ok. I put them in and had no trouble. That black primer they put on them is ok-but still need repriming. American Designers are heavier but come in bare steel with oil! a pain! I wonder why they never made the 71 pans. The hype that I got from Lancaster Mustang [now defunct I believe-and with good reason!!!} told me that the Tawains were same as original and American Designers was heavier than original! I believed him!! Oh well! Wonder why he went out of business????IP: 152.163.195.213 |

These are 71/73 mustang/cougar pans with correct ribbing. They are different from the 65/68 pans. Goodmark was going to distribute them but (From the info I got) Could not find any interest from the mustang parts distributors. Goodmark has since gotten out of the mustang repo business as of a few monthes ago. I was told that they had only about 90 pairs no none else but them has a correct repo.------------------ Bob 71 J code 429 SCJ-R Sportsroof C6 4:11 IP: 209.240.220.241 |

I just can't figure out why National Parts Depo or Mustangs Unlimited would not jump all over these. The only thing that I could figure was that there might be a quality problem. You have not indicated a problem. Go over these things with a fine tooth comb and let us know how they really are.Ben IP: 172.172.17.30 |

I really can't find a flaw in them. I guess I won't know until I try and fit them. They are the same tooling and from the same company as the pans Mustang Monthly used in Lazarus Prodject. They (M-M) didn't say anything negative about them. They even have the little shifter hump on the side of the transmission tunnel. The measurements on my floors compared to the stamping on the new floors are right on the money. ------------------ Bob 71 J code 429 SCJ-R Sportsroof C6 4:11 IP: 209.240.220.176 |

I was told the big suppliers were not interested because we 71-73 owners were making do with the 65-8 pans and the 71-73 pans are more expensive. IP: 12.3.224.82 |

I would have a difficult time believing that a mustang supply house would not want to carry this item just based upon the pent up demand for it. Obviously if NPD started carrying the item then word would get around rather quickly. One would be more inclined to order other parts from the same supplier. There is something more here that we don't know about. A $20 price difference is not going to be a big deal.Ben IP: 172.175.189.139 |

That sounded funny to me also. I have contacted several big suppliers and they have not heard anything about the 71-73 floor pans. IP: 12.3.224.82 |

I thought it was strange also but I don't mind being the guinea pig. Especially if the part is correct and the good reviews I have had from friends on the quality of Goodmark products on their restorations (Mostly bowties). I know that the 65/68 will fit with some mods but I want my car to be as close to original as possible. I want them for when mine get too weak. It does not surprise me though as most mustang suppliers are geared more to the 65/68 stangs. Seems that 71-73 stangs do not have the same popularity.------------------ Bob 71 J code 429 SCJ-R Sportsroof C6 4:11 [This message has been edited by Bob429 (edited 10-06-2000).] IP: 209.240.220.192 |

If any of you guys are interested I have the phone number and extension of the gentleman I spoke with a Goodmark. I'm sure that he would deal with you on a set or if you have any questions about them he could answer them for you. Just drop me an e mail. ------------------ Bob 71 J code 429 SCJ-R Sportsroof C6 4:11 IP: 209.240.220.192 |
