hi Guys,

can someone tell me how a "hotter" cam affects vacuum? also what does the condensor do in a points ignition? are condensors all the same quality or are some better than others, if so which are best? sorry for these simple questions but you buys know everything and I don't.

thanks

Hi Craig and welcome to M&M ! Hi lift and long duration camshfts keep the valves open longer and create less cylinder pressure. The long overlap does not allow an engine to build much vaccum. A condensor stores energy from the ignition coil. As the points break, the energy is released to the secondary side (plug wires). There are high and low quality points and condensors. I like the Accel and Mallory products best. also, there are no simple questions Craig. Feel free to ask anything anytime. Alex

I don't know how I missed this, but welcome to M&M Craig
I also like the drop in electronic ignitions, no more setting points
