I was told that the 351c-4v with closed chamber heads could handle a camshaft with lift up to .600. To make things easy, say the block was not decked and the heads were not milled. The pistons are TRW flat tops with small valve reliefs. Would a .600 lift cam have clearance problems? When I try this out I will do a plastercine test but I just couldnt believe it could handle one that large without piston work.IP: 209.47.33.47 |

Its not just the lift that will affect the piston to valve clearance but also the duration and timing of the cam. The longer the duration on the exhaust is, the more likely you are to have issues. If you look at how the cycle works, the piston chases the exhaust valve closed. I don't know the exact limits, but that's another thing to think about.------------------ Marcus Fast, Reliable, Cheap.... Pick any TWO of these words. 68 Mustang, still in purgatory.
