As some of you may have noticed I have been posting about different Ford trucks lately. I am on the hunt for a truck. I have no particulars in mind really. I would like something vintage, but the wife says no due to the stench that my 'stang leaves on you after riding in it. I can't seem to convince her that not all vehicles will do this. Maybe something black to match my Pony?I found a '93 flareside w/ a V8 for $5000 but I haven't looked it over at all. Is this year a good year for Ford or was it a flop? What things should I look for on this particular model? So, all you truck owners out there speak up! If you had $10,000 or less to spend on a truck what would you recommend? I want something that I can get in and drive. Maybe a few nickel and dime items but no major body work, etcetera. Or better yet, do any of you have a truck for sale? I'm gonna post a generic want ad as well. Any and all info is appreciated! Thanks in advance! I think the late 80's to mid 90's are great trucks. And they can be had for a good price too.But I were to get one I'd go for any thing pre smog. Here in Reno anything made before 69 does not need to pass smog. There are plenty of older trucks around here. That people have put new drive trains in.Drive like new looks like a classic, now thats cool. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

Buy a '93-'95 Lightning, you won't regret it!The Flareside sounds nice, I could never get used to the looks but if you like it that's all that counts. Avoid the 300 six. I had one and hated it so much I pulled it out at 70k and virtually gave it away. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com

Hmmm...a Lightning?. I never even thought of that. I wonder if the wife would know what a Lightning is? Umm...no.If I could find one I'd be interested. Of course the price and condition would have to be in line. Here is one! I wish I knew what it was worth and had a few days to think about it. That's a nice one. I'd be very wary of any vehicle I couldn't check out in person though. I bet you can find one locally if you checked around.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com

Yeah, those trucks would be affordable. They will be around 100k miles, but the rust protection is good on them. Get a pricing guide and go have fun! Definitely go V8/auto. The 6's are pigs, and the 5 speeds are weak for towing.[This message has been edited by MLariviere (edited 05-02-2003).]
