The check engine lite was on when I tried out my new to me 97. They fixed before I picked it up but it came back on this weekend? My Question is there a sequence for the ignition switch to get it to give me the code? or any other way?

A code reader or diagnostic tool is the only way known to me............

Hmmm, dunno if it'd work with a 97(though this is a bit late ) But I used to know this nifty trick with a paper clip... Seriously
bridge certain ports in the diagnostic connector, turn the key to ACC and the check engine light would blink the code. But that's pretty much common knowlage I guess, and probably doesn't work with a 97 :\ Oh well, my attempt to sound smart and feel better about myself ~Scott~

They say it was the oxigen sensor! He told me that they were not sure why it came back on but they had replaced it when I bought it. So they cleared it again?
