Not much of one. I got the engine block to the machinists and should have it back next week. Hot tanked, new cam bearings, block checked out, bored .030 and new frost plugs. Plus, they are going to remove the two small plugs (one on either side of the block) for antifreeze that I couldn't get out. No charge.
Thats why I decided to wait to take it in until I came back from vacation. It would be done within a few days and then the freshly machined surfaces would just sit.

To me, everything looked good when it came apart except for the thrust bearing. And that was chipped, not just worn.

Thats where I am at. Going to order gasket set tomorrow.

I will need help with selecting a cam.

Believe it or not, I just got my engine block back. So nice and clean. Time for the fun to begin.

What color is the block from a 1990 f-150 supposed to be?

Steve, I absolutely refuse to paint my block plain ol' grey. I want some life in the motor.

So........Do you have any better ideas?

You bet, how about dark Ford blue? Duplicolor #1606 looks the best.

I used to paint my engines black, they looked good, too.

I am thinking about a deep red maybe. Though that would be very close to the trucks color.

I'll check on that blue to see if I like it. I want it to be noticed. Not boring.
