About a week ago, I wrote about a '63 1/2 Galaxie that my Papa was interested in... we went for a test drive this morning (before going to the Knott's Ford show ). He's going to buy it! This car is SWEET! It's got a strong 429, C6, front disc brakes , two-door fastback Galaxie 500 XL. We won't be able to pick it up for a few days, but I'll try to get some pics up when we do. He's also going to register here as a member and join in! [This message has been edited by V8 Thumper (edited 04-14-2002).]

Sounds pretty Todd, looking forward to seeing the pics , one of my favorite cars. Did you get a chance to take care of that bit of business we were discussing the other day? Yes John, done deal. I'll continute to serarch Thanks on the Galaxie compliment! It really is a beautiful car... we're looking forward to detailing and tuning... that's about all it needs! It sat under a tarp for a year. It's got nasty gasoline in the fuel tank; the first thing we do is drop it and have it "re-nu'd". To drive it, the seller (on my request) capped off the fuel line and retrofitted a small temporary fuel tank with fresh gasoline... the 750 Holley 'feels' just a hair over-jetted (and probably full of gunk). A Petronix module will replace the breaker points right away, and then drive the daylights out of it

This pic is BEFORE the deal was closed. All the guy did was remove the tarp it'd sat under for a year and hosed it off. Just wait until we get some polish and wax on it!

I remember a couple of years ago cruising in the country and coming across a 63 1/2 Galaxie that was freshly painted black and it was BEAUTIFUL! They wanted $9000 for that one. It had a 427 and C6. Oh, to be a rich man... ------------------

For $4k less, this one's got two more cubic inches (... an FE would've been too)We practically STOLE it. The seller just lost intrest in cars. He's into restoring old motorcycles now... his loss!

He loves it... when he can He's been undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. The good news is that he's doing great, both physically and mentally (good attitude about it). The car has taken a 'back burner' posture as of late, but we've done a bunch to get it running in top form. The fuel tank was full of 40 years of (stuff), had it cleaned and re-lined. I overhauled the Holley 750, tweaked on the secondaries some and installed a Petronix module. The thing screams We (Papa and I) have been looking for a set of shortie headers, maybe a truck application that may squeeze in there. Crites has long tubes for that motor in that car, but they're almost $400, a little out of range for the moment. I feel that there's at least 30 hp bottled up in those stocker exhaust manifolds, so they're be more to come Thanks Steve for moving the thread over here

I will Steve, thank you for the gesture. The docs say he's only got a few more week's treatment, and then be given a 100% clean bill of health He'll be back to his ol' self before you know it

Actually, I haven't seen Papa for a few weeks... I'll drop him a line and see what he's up to. I do know he hasn't driven it much lately Last he and I talked, sounds like he's got a p/s cylinder problem, losing alot of fluid. I'll see if he's got more pics than I do, I'm sure he does ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html
