I have a 68 302 2 v carburator and I want to install it on my 1978 302 replacement engine in my 68 Torino GT Fastback. It doesn't cover the manifold hole on the intake for the crankcase vent. Would it still work enough to get it running OK if I blocked this hole in the manifold and put this carburator on?? I have the original intake manifold from the 68 block I could put on, however my replacement engine is painted and I don't want to change it if I don't have to. Would there be a performance difference in the 68 to 78 stock 302 intakes?? I would change it for an increase!! I am goning to the Barrie Ontario Auto Flea market Sept. 789 and any info would be great!! If you could be of any help please email me or give me a collect call @ 613-475-2792. Thanks Jim

the 68 manifold will probably leak water at the corners. the 78 heads have much larger water passages that aren't covered by the intake.

Thanks Guys! I will look this weekend for a adaptor plate for a 78 or a adaptor and carburator, Not sure if my 68 autolite will fit the new plate design. Will keep you posted. Jim

Well Today I got the 302 in my Torino GT Fastback started for the first time since buying it for restoration last fall. Wow what a thrill I talked to a couple of Ford guys about my intake problem and they told me to weld the hole shut. It was for a EGR for the 78 and wasn't needed on the 68 carburator and plate. Worked great!! Next step, flip it up on its side on a car cradle and restore the bottom, then the body starts!! Havin fun in Canada Jim
