Does anyone have a 1968/69 Torino GT Fastback? I noticed that there were no posts regarding these models. I asked because I am in the process of rebuilding a 68 and would like first-hand experiences. My 68 doesn't have the original 390 engine(looked for one in vain), but I have a 351C 2V FMX trans from a 72 Cougar. I am tempted to put in this engine so I can use the car. What do you think? Thanks.

It will swap in fine. You just need to swap to the small block motor mounts and insulators.

Hey Blueteck, how are you?? I am also restoring a 68 Torino GT. I had a 68 Fairlane 500 Fastback as a kid and finally am getting back into working on cars and have found this baby to restore from Boise Idaho. I have lots of information that I have collected on the 68/69s. I will get mine running within the next month, then do the bodywork this winter. Contact me at [email protected] or I have a post about an intake manifold here under Sparky. Good luck with your restoration. Jim

Sparky, my Torino has no engine at the moment. It was a 390 but now I am planning to put in a 460. The car is currently sitting idle right now, no progress being done. One good thing about this car is that the interior is almost perfect! Body has a little rust but manageable. Hood, trunk, and quarter extension mouldings are missing and both park lens are broken. Taillights need new rubber gaskets and the bezel needs rechroming. I also suspect that the differential is not Ford. I will do the body first, remove rust and repair dents. Nice to hear from a fellow 68 Torino GT owner. We could compare notes as we go along and make things a "little" easier and more fun. Do you know where I can get reproduction park lens and mouldings? Or used originals that are "affordable"? I am low on budget so I have to look around for "good deals". Good luck in your project!

Hey Bluetech! I havn't spent much time on this board. I have found almost all my parts on Ebay Auto. Just search for Torino and set it up as a favorite search. I check mine daily and have found a ton of parts that I wouldnt have know what to even ask for. Even a "F" hose. Parking lights are listed every couple of weeks, theres a set for $30.00 on auction now. Most parts I win are under $20.00. Good Luck, Jim G

Sparky, I go there a couple of times a day! I decided against the park lights that were listed. I think I am going to buy new ones. The ones listed had cracks on them. I missed out on a pair of rear quarter glasses. Was asking the seller if he's willing to part with only passenger side. Got no answer. Good Luck.
