Steve I dont have here, but it was along the lines of.Car craft is a much better magazine now since it shows less then 90% chevys. I'll get the quote tonight and post it. He was only 17 in 1998. What an awsome car to have at 17,or at any age.SCOOP ------------------ oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

Thanks SCOOP, yeah that's my moment in history The car was a cheapo back then, still had 4 wheel drums and a basically stock 1987 5.0L. But it sure looked good. ! I have ahd the car since I was 15. When I got it it was a nice shell but had no engine or wheels and tires ------------------ -Charlie Ping 1970 Maverick Grabber [email protected] with AC and overdrive. http://www.maverickgrabber.com [This message has been edited by cpmaverick (edited 12-17-2002).]

I have a LOT of respect for you, Charlie! You seem to really got your stuff together, especially for a young guy.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Be sure to remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, and Osborn Reproductions.

Steve I'll 2nd that. Here's the quote how it reads from the mag. "Your mag just keeps getting better! It started when the Chevy count dropped below 90 percent." Charlie do you still run an 8" with the 4.11? How tall are your rear tires? Your car sure looks at home in the magazine. Ah shucks Thanks for the compliments! My dad got me started, and helped a LOT with my Maverick while I built it. He always wanted me to do almost everything myself though, he'd just tell me how. Hell, a lot of times he wouldn't even tell me how, he'd tell me to look it up Made me learn I've built on that knowledge base he gave me pretty good I think. Scoop, good story about my Maverick's rearend. A little after that magazine was published (I already had front disc brakes at that time), my dad returned from a trip to New Orleans. He mentioned he saw a Lincoln Versailles for sale at a Domino's Pizza in Gulfport, MS. Wasn't long before I told him we were going to go pick it up. I called information We trailered it back. I paid $600 of my hard earned cash for the car and split the gas with my dad. The accel pump was frozen so it ran like crap, but once I freed it up it ran pretty good (had a rod knock in the old 351 though). I took it up and down the street for fun anf then tore the rearend out of it. That rear is in the Maverick now. I sold what was left of the Versailles for $290. I've run 3.10s and 3.70s in the 9". The 3.70s were fairly streetable with the 4 speed and a 28" tire, I took several long interstate trips in the Maverick. Now that I have the 5 speed, I've installed some 4.11s again. Just couldn't help myself, they were too much fun ------------------ -Charlie Ping 1970 Maverick Grabber [email protected] with AC and overdrive. http://www.maverickgrabber.com
