Thanks for the SVT pic. Charlie. This is the last year the Contour will be availible in North America. The SVT was a limited production car as are all SVT Fords. It will run low to mid 15s in the 1/4 and high 14s with modest mods. It is known as the Mondeo in the rest of the world and will continue to be produced. I'm taking mine to the strip in about 45 min to get some baseline runs before I do a few mods. The shifters are crap and it is hard to get a good fast shift without missing 3rd. I like the pic of the month, that was a good idea. Bill

Ran the Contour last nite, had a .674RT and a 16.569 ET.Had Honda guys asking questions. This thing really spins and has a lot of axel hop out of the hole. I think poly engine mounts will help alot. I'm going to put a fresh-air intake on it and 2 1/4" dual exhaust with a "quite" low restriction mufflers and see what it dose. Bill

I think Ford's dropping of the Contour is a big mistake.

The SVT Contour is one of the best performance values around.

If they had made a two door Contour SVT, we would have bought one instead of the Probe.

The Mondeo was a big hit in Europe, but a bit too small for the market here, especially for the interior room. The new Focus has about as much interior room for much cheaper, so I think Ford thought the Contour's sales would suffer.

Things we can look forward too... The Cougar S, using Contour SVT parts, and the SVT Focus.

Thanks for the ET update bill, Keep those H-boys guessing

Ohhhh...nasty lil rumors

A few years back when I was looking at new cars, that SVT Contour was first on my hit list to get, unfortuneatly, the $20k price tag held me back Well, now I've got a brand spankin new 2000 Focus, and I've been having a blast, I've dusted everything from Hondas to, yes, an SVT Contour, which amazed me due to the almost 90 horsepower difference. I blame it on the lousy gearbox in the countor and the splended gearbox in the focus Anyway...

Over in europe there is a AWD Twin Turbo Focus....now THAT I'd like to see over here....

Now, as for the stock ZX3, you'd be suprised what that little car can do, it handles unbelivebly and can definately get out of it's own way(I've had mine up to 115mph already, without breaking a sweat ) this is why I belive ford fears losses in the contour, it has over all better performance, is almost $7k less in the price department, and, belive it or now, is an unbelivably large car inside. And, from what I've seen, ford is going to play the Focus to the end, they're already comming out with factory mods, such as an areo kit, and from what I've heard, they have a supercharger in the works. Well, said my .02 cents.

The SVT Contour is a great car, always was and always will be, but it seems the Focus is right in it's mirror and commin on fast!

Still not broke in. You should beat on it until you have 5000 or so. Have you changed the oil yet? I like to change the oil at 1000 on a new car.

Well, last I checked, it's a bad idea to "beat" on a new car for awhile BUT, I'm getting the oil changed at 2000 miles(gimme a few days)so everything should be all good soon
