Tim, reading your post on '68 Mustangs made me think... You need a Maverick! And so does everyone else. Just think- a Maverick is basically a 1965 Mustang. All the dimensions are similar, but Ford had some time to get everything right.A Maverick has staggered rear shocks unlike most 60's Mustangs, it has a heavy-duty 8" rear that has a beefier housing and solid (not tapered) axles, it is super light, with a 1970 model 6-cyl weighing in at less that 2500 lbs, Big 11" Granada disc brakes bolt on without any kind of modification (depending on the Mustang, some drilling is required), Plus the initial investment is cheap! {inspiring yell} Who's with me? ------------------ -Charlie Ping 1970 Maverick Grabber -1987 5.0L B303 roller cam/rockers -1968 Mustang Toploader -1977 Lincoln Versailles 9 inch w/discs -1980 Granada Front Discs www.MAVERICKGRABBER.com

Charlie, Yeah,Mavericks are cool. I'm running a set of 8inch Maverick axles in a narrowed 9inch housing in the Falcon. They hold up just fine and are a lot bigger than early Falcon or Mustang axles.Did you ever get the head gaskets fixed?Gotta get that car back to the track to show 'em what a Maverick will do.

Not back together yet, I guess i want everyone else to have one since I missed mine Should be back together tomorrow. My head guy wanted me to use Fel-pros again, I'd have it back together but I made the Autozone mistake, my normal parts store can't get Fel-pro. Someone needs to tell the ditz at Autozone that head gaskets can't be folded in half. ------------------ -Charlie Ping 1970 Maverick Grabber -1987 5.0L B303 roller cam/rockers -1968 Mustang Toploader -1977 Lincoln Versailles 9 inch w/discs -1980 Granada Front Discs www.MAVERICKGRABBER.com

So the Autozone guys aren't any sharper than the ones at Pep Boys or Kragen, huh?I just put the Morris motor back together with some Fel Pros that I got from Summit. They don't ask you what kind of car it's for like the guys at the auto parts stores.I'm tired of trying to explain what a Morris Minor is,let alone one with a Ford in it.Make sure everything is good and clean before you put the heads back on,torque them to 85lbs long bolts and 75lbs short per the Fel Pro instuctions and you will be fine. Believe it or not Charlie, I had thought about that :>). But when I looked for one all I found was '74+ (if I am gonna do smog it will be with a fox body :>) or 4 doors or they wanted way too much. I dont actually see them in the papers that often and I even looked in the free classified papers, autotraders, etc (still continue to look while looking for my next car). After I saw a black Grabber with a 351 inbetween the towers I started looking :>).------------------ Tim M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 ci w/ a Holley 2300, Clifford header, and true duals w/ 26" Smithys http://all.at/mustang https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html

well, when you're right, you're right. the Maverick/Comet rocks. I am, however, partial to the Mercury version, but to each his own... and your car looks awesome in person man... I gotta do some work to mine before we run at that track we talked about... ouch I'd get my @$$ whupped... hehe------------------ 74 Mercury Comet 302 AOD 3:1 Will the 302 built properly this summer? wish I knew... http://members.tripod.com/red74merc

Whoops! I forgot to mention the Comet, like usual the Merc version gets left out... Comet GTs look cool, I love the straight stripe and hoodscoop.
