I like the 69 the best. Well it worked well in the classic mustang forum. SCOOP

'73s 'cause i got one!! Oh, wait, wrong forum. I agree, SCOOP. 69 is it. I used to have a 76, black with black interior, power sunroof, console, guages, etc. Cool car. If it had a floor, i would probably still have it.

i love my 69 cat-vertible.... BUT!!!!my fave body style is the original 67/68 profile.... sleek.... nice lines... makes ya wanna give it kitty-pats.... looks like its moving fast when it is sitting still.... all those fun things..... and i am not talking about available options or any of that stuff.... simply line.... profile.... silhouette.... if we wanted to throw the power-twist to the mix.... definately the 69.... much more out there in the option world... the eliminator hit the market.... the big block appeared... all kinds of yummy treats.... style-wise the convertible hit the showrooms and the headlite covers did a strange shift to a horizontal detail instead of the vertical... the 70 had a gawd-awful design on the hood that lifted the centerpiece when the hood was opened.... perfect for banging yer noggin .... whose crazy idea was that anyways!!! and anyways.... even the old pimp-mobile classic big-cats look kinda fun nowadays... my roomate had a 74 XR7 with a fat cleve in it.... she ran the cat-poop out of it..... since we dont get much action over here in the cat-den.... i dont think this question will cause as much controversy as the 'stang comparisions!!! kk

The 70 is by far the best. Mainly because that's what I have The hood can and will get you. But instead of getting mad about it, make it into a game. See how many people you can get with it. And then when they hit their heads, you can get a good laugh! I think the 70 looks the most aggressive and muscular. A lot of it is the grill. The 69 horizontal grill looks old man sensible type, not muscle car, IMO. I also vote for the 70. A 428 CJ Eliminator, in one of the new for 70 Grabber colors does it for me!I know a guy with a Calypso Corral 70 428 Eliminator, & it looks bitchin`! I prefer the 70 nose better, even though ya may wanna wear a turban when working under the hood. ------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA Stocker under construction, 302 5 speed

Actually, the '70's would have been the 4th incarnation of the cat! '67= 1st year out '68= 2nd year '69= 3rd year '70= 4th year! So... even though there are only 3 years from '67-'70 there are actually 4 models. Even if you group them '67-'68 and '69-'70 for similiar bodies, etc.I like '69s though, just like my stangs. The 1968 XR7G was the best Cougar. Mainly because I was just given one that has been setting covered in a garage in dry California since 1986. I just registered it Saturday. Runs like a top, plenty of power(390), and gets plenty of looks. The hardest thing I had to do was replace the battery box.

Now why can't *I* ever be "just given" a car?

Actually as far as run to the mil cougars I like the 70 best for a few reasons, the grill is the most aggressive, they have the best interiors as far as high backs and lock steering and the eliminators have the best stripes. If you talk special models I would take a red & silver or blue & silver GTE anyday with the 427 4 speed, theres only one word to discribe it....awesome!!!! As far as the 70 hood "fang" I have had my 70 since 1989 and I haven't bumped my head on the hood for at least 10 years, just something you get used too.
