Just finished restoration of my 68 Cougar XR7G. Wiring harness was damaged by a previous engine bay fire, it was restored as best as possible, Now it is back in car the plugs to the factory Tach don't seem to be there. Anyone out there know the color code from the tach to the engine, as the shop manuel does not show XR7 schematics? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't have any '68 wiring schematics, but I'll put this post in the Cougar forum too, in case someone there can help you.

The 2 wires that emerge from the back of the tach instrument are wired in series with the larger than usual PINK wire. This pink wire is the ignition resistor wire and cannot be replaced with a non-resistor type wire. The electrical current which flows through the primary ignition is sensed by the tach and the instrument needle responds accordingly.
