...after coming home from work. Normally, I just see dad's Windstar sitting in it's usual spot, and then my spot to park the '99 in. Tonight, I saw the Windstar, and where the '99 usually goes is my new 2003 Sonic Blue GT!!!! Woo-hoo!!! Yes indeed...I bought a new GT this morning. I haven't driven it yet (it's stick...going out tomorrow to learn it), but it's nice. I love it. It's got the chrome 5-spoke wheels, the interior upgrade package, leather seats, Mach 460...oh man. $23K out the door, put $8K down...payments are $359/mo for 48 months at 6.9%. I have pretty much no credit, so I think that's a fairly decent rate. Can always refinance later too. I'll have pictures as soon as all this friggin' rain lets up. But man, it's just awesome. I'm lovin' life. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good" '76 Cobra--project

Thanks Ken. Dad drove it home for me...he said it's one of the easiest manual tranny's he's driven; said it was like it almost knew when to shift gears.------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good" '76 Cobra--project

Congrats on the new pony. Driving a stick is easy. First manual trans car I ever had (1990 Chevy cavalier ) I learned to drive on the way home from the dealer. ------------------

Awesome Frank! You have wanted your Sonic Blue Mustang for some time now. Enjoy the ride and have learning to drive a stick. It's not hard to do. But you do need to cordinate hand and foot movements. Thanks gang. I'm slowly getting the hang of the manual; dad and I went out a little while ago and I started on it. I drove it home down the 2-lane road...I just need more hill practice, some reverse practice, and a little more take-off practice...I can't let the clutch out slow enough. But, here's a few pics I snapped today. Dad's got better shots of it on his PC; I just need to transfer them over. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good" '76 Cobra--project

Frank the new car looks great. As long as you give it enough gas you can't let the clutch out to fast. ------------------ SCOOP 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

Cool Car!! Here's a tip for new manual trans drivers. Don't ride the clutch when you're just cruising. I really can't prove there are ill effects to riding the clutch, but I hear it isn't good. Keep your left foot on the foot rest when you're not shifting. Erik ------------------ 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 Mine - Restomod in Progress 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe Dad's - Original Unrestored

Riding the clutch puts pressure on the thrust bearings in the engine. Once you get in the habit, its hard to break. Then again engine braking is bad for the engine too, but slamming it into 2nd gear and chirping the tires into a corner is too much fun. I must learn to heel toe downshift when I get another stick shift car.

neat-o torpedo...Before you know it, you'll be huntin' around for a clutch and wiggling the shifter for neutral when driving automatics. Two very tough habits to overcome. Too cool! My first clutch learning was with a old John Deere bulldozer when I was 12. NICE! As far as the clutch goes, I learned to drive in a fox body Fairmont with a worn out 4 cylinder and a 4 speed. I've also owned more standard tranny vehicles than autos. I never have "rode the clutch". Hell, sometimes I don't even use the clutch while I'm moving.

I'm getting the hang of the clutch a little more now. Drove to work today and back, stalled once each way...no biggie though...I am keeping the '99, sort of. My brother is working on getting his license, and when he does, he's gonna buy the '99 from me. He's 20 now... ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '03 Mustang GT coupe '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good"

Awesome, Frank! Congratulations! You picked out about the exact car I'd be looking for. Gotta have that stick. I went through a lot of heartache (knuckleache?) to make mine a stick. Don't regret a minute of it until the achilles thing happened. Now I just give the '66 a bit more exercise (it's got a C4).Dave

That is a great looking car.. When we were in Twin Falls, ID last weekend,, they had a Classic Car Cruise.. During the cruise,, I saw a GT just like yours pulling into the traffic.. I slowed down so he could pull along side my '66 fastback (which is very close to the same Blue).. As he pulled along side,, we were both smilin and traded "Nice Car" comments..You did good.. ------------------ Don '66 Fastback 302 with 5 speed Royal Blue Metallic w/Ghost Flames "If you put Brake Fluid in Paint,, Will it stop it from Running..

The first stick i ever drove was a escort wagon that my stepbrother use to have i was like 10 and we were on a gravel road in the mountains he told me to give it gas and let the clutch out slowly but i ddn`t quite do that i revved it to about three grand and dumped the clutch my startings were not the best but i learned after awhile and i am pretty good at it now so i won`t have any trouble driving my car when it get`s finished.
