I'd invite you to stop by on your trip through this weekend, just to see the Bullit. But I'm leaving in the morning for Kansas City National show. You don't know how many things I had to promise just to drive the GT. Becks staying home to babysit the Explorer

I'm disappointed, I expected to see at least one Bullit at the Kansas City show. Not a single one....a bunch of Rousches and Saleens but no Bullitts.

Put over 1000 miles on the GT at 25+ mpg not bad for $1.79/gal of gas.

I hate to admit it, the Explorer is more comfortable on long trips.

The thrill factor doesn't even come close

Sorry you didn't see any Bullitts at the show. I drove up to Clarksville over the weekend and didn't see any Bullitts either. Mine was very comfortable and just purrs on the open road. My baby gets LOTS and LOTS of looks.

There was a black Bullitt at the dealership where the Las Vegas Mustang show was held. They got it the day before. It was getting more attention than the Roushes they had on display. I was a little disappointed. Maybe cuz it was black. Also they had a dealer markup of $3000!!!!
After the show we drove to Henderson on the outskirts of Las Vegas to another Ford dealership. Went there to visit Mustang Sally diner on the premises. Didn't see a Bullitt there either, but then asked a salesman. Turns out they had one on the back lot waiting prep. A service person took us back there. My heart skipped several beats. It was gorgeous!! That Dark Highland Green is an awesome color. I can't wait to get it next to our Dark Ivy convertible. What a pair they will make! This dealer was asking sticker, but not a penny less. I got mine for $1000 under sticker and still get a rebate!
As soon as I got home last night I called VOPC. Our car is on Convoy as of May 3! Now what I don't know is if that means they are shipping it by truck from Detroit. Will that be faster than by train?
Maybe by the end of the week.
We'll have to rent another garage to keep it until ours is finished. No way can it sit on the street.
J.

So Mike, any idea what kind of power it actually puts out?

Ford originally said 275...then it was speculated that it could be more than that...then they said only 265?

Any ideas? What's the word?

Joyce,
Wasn't it a great feeling to see it for the first time IN PERSON? The DHG is an incredible color.

I got mine for $1000 over invoice and took the 5.9 APR financing, so didn't get the rebate, which is $1500 or $750 depending on the APR you want.

I saw DHG#491 at Wade Ford in Buford, GA last night. It is still in the prep area and they have ZERO leads for selling it. I think they want sticker price. I heard a while back that FORD was not accepting anymore orders unless they had a customer name on them. NOW I hear that FORD has STOPPED accepting new Bullitt orders completely. Looks like we are gonna be SOLD OUT! Any car that is unspoken for will go for sticker or HIGHER at this point. Go get it NOW if you can find one.

As for the POWER, a guy had his dyno'ed with 67 miles on it and I think his Rear Wheel numbers were 227HP and 267TQ. That puts the numbers right abour where Ford said they would be I think... 265HP. What I know for sure is that after putting 1000 miles on mine in the last 6 days, I don't NEED anymore power than what I've got. I haven't gone above 4500rpm yet and the acceleration has scared the snot out of everyone that has ridden in it. And as a highway cruiser, I was turning 2300rpm at 85mph for HOURS and it was SMOOTH ridin'.

I talked to an 01 Cobra guy and he said his power is scary after the 4000rpm mark. I said, mine is scary after the 2000rpm mark Low end torque for DAYS!

See ya later...gotta run to the office for a while...Vroom vroom..

I'm getting my bullit with the X plan which is $2200 less than the org. price quote of $28,000. I'm taking the $750 rebate. and I can't wait, havn't seen one yet in the Tidewater area of Virginia. My sales man told me that he has sold 2 (including mine, which is first for his dealership) and a 3rd that the buyer has backed out of, so they could buy a cobra, but car is still coming without a buyer. He say's if you now anyone wanting a DHG Bullitt contact him, John Clark at Cavalier Ford [email protected]

VOPC is the Vehicle Order Processing Center. The number is 1-800-962-3746. You will need your Dealer Code and Your VIN to get a status on your order. This system is for dealers only, so if it wants to transfer you to an operator, hang up. The status is a little behind what the dealers can pull off the computer, but it's kinda fun to check on it once or twice or three times a day.

EXCELLENT!!

I tell you that the wait is worth it. I've been taking it relatively easy on mine for the last week. Nothing above 4000rpms. Well, until yesterday anyway. I'm up over 1000 miles on the odometer and was coming up a nice long on ramp to the highway...

There was a line of cars in the left lane and I was in the right. I rounded the corner to the ramp in 2nd and thought 'Why not?' So I floored it. Almost snapped my neck! Took it up to 5000rpm and shifted to 3rd...snapped my neck again! I got to the top of the hill and realized I was doin close to 90 and backed off. DANG she flys! And wait til you hear the exhaust note above 4500 rpms. Oh MY GOD! Sounds like the muscle cars of old. I can't wait to hear you guys posting about your first rides. In the words of Flounder, "This is gonna be great!"

Mike,
This is worst than watching your brother eating a ice cream cone on a hot summer day. I can't wait!!!!! To read your thoughts about how it runs and sounds is just what I wanted to hear. I was hopeing it would be like the good old days. The Ford muscle car is back and it is called Bullitt.

Jim, So the day of my ride is getting closer? In case you didn't read my remark in another post, in order for you to get points for taking passengers in your Bullitt, you have to give EVERY club member at the next meeting a ride! Remember, points are for deeds done for the GOOD OF THE CLUB Maybe this could be a mid-month activity?

Mike/Carol,
Rob, Kay and I just got home from Kimanck Ford and they have DHG Bullitt # 416, They want minium $500.00 over MRSP, they also say you can't get the rebate for the GT. So I'm waiting for John Clark form Cavalier to come though for me. With the X plann and the rebate I getting the car for much less.
I checked the VOPC and it told me my car is on the Ramp. Last week it was on rail shipment. John say's it is probly at a hub waiting furher shipment. Rob also checked his and it was built May 7th (I think) and it should be waiting shipment now with devilery scheduled June 4.
Let me tell you how cool this car is at Kimnack.... 1st you can spot it real quick. all the Bullitt stuff just makes the car. The pictures I've seen don't do the car justice. The Wheels and brakes jump out at you. The seats hold you firmly, The brushed alumium apointments, just outstanding. But the biggest thing I liked was the sound of this engine, Mike you were right it is music. The intake manifold is so cool. The sub frame conectors just tells you that this car is serious.
The salesman wouldn't let us take it on a test drive. And you wouldn't believe, how uninformed they are, about the car. The first guy just knew it was speial car, but that was all. The second one just talked all kind've trash, They should hire some M&M people to sell their cars.
I can't wait to hear this car as I bast off, on the on ramps.
Carol I might give everyone a ride I'll just a have to think about it.

Jimmy,
Don't let them snow you. The Bullitt qualifies for any rebate that the GT does. Sounds like they want to try to play games with you.

Glad you got to see one up close and personal. All the pictures we've been seeing just don't even come close to when you see it for yourself. You heard the magic musical sounds of the engine huh? Wait til you hear it when you a blasting off . I've been getting thumbs up and open mouthed looks from tons of folks.

Just wait til you get to cruise around town in yours, you'll see.
