This weekend I'm planning on replacing the clutch assembly, installing a new clutch cable, quadrant, and firewall adjuster, replacing the rear main seal, and putting on some JBA shorty headers.I have never done this kind of wrenching before, and was hoping some of you gearheads would assist me by imparting your vast knowledge through this medium we call the internet. Anything you guys can help me with....whether you take the time to type a paragraph, or you type a chapters worth of info....I will appreciate any and all tips, tricks, help, hints, assistance, instructions, or whatever else you can provide! Thanks guys. Stewart

First of all, be patient and don't curse in public. You do have a manual, I hope! And lastly, knuckles arent supposed to have skin on them. Are you changing the tranny out yet? Doc has a line on a "new" one for $400. Good luck buddy, you can do it!SteveW

Arghghgh! No cursing?? Damnit all to hell! ****...I gotta watch my mouth now too?!? Yeah, I have a Haynes, but I figure a man can never have too much info when he's doing something like this. I know all this if pretty basic to most of you guys, and truthfully, I can't wait to tear into the Mustang...but I also know I'm a perfectionist, and without having a "veteran gearhead" here with me to make sure I don't break the seal on the muffler bearings, or somehow contaminate the blinker fluid, these upgades I'm doing will take much longer than they should. Oh well, SteveW, you up for a small roadtrip this weekend? Stewart PS - I wonder what kind of tranny it is. Next year I'm planning on a Z rated T5. Stewart, I just did the same thing for a buddy on his 89 vert about a month ago. It was a piece of cake save for the h-pipe. I swore and cursed more than I ever have at that thing. The factory h-pipe sucks. If you have aftermarket it should be a breeze. Like Steve said take your time and all should go well. If you can get it apart in one day it will asily go back together in less than one. Good luck and let us know the results. John

Hey John. Lucky me, I removed the factory pipes and cats just before the Reno party, and put on an offroad H-pipe.Any recommendations for gaskets I should use for the new headers? Stewart

I have had nothing but good luck with Fel-pro gaskets. Anytime I have used something else I have had hit and miss problems. That being said go with the part number 1415 fel pro. Very popular and good.
