hey all,,
got a problem, got a 90 gt and i want to put GT40 alum turbo swirl heads (Y not X heads). the heads were shaved to 59cc chambers. i have 1.7 rockers and the exhaust is an *** hair too close. can i switch to 1.6 rockers and a thicker head gasket and have enough clearance?? thanks

I have a similar set up but with the 'X' head and 64cc chambers. I planned on going to the FMC 'B' cam and had to deepened the valve releifs. I did this with the engine in the car. I use a 90 deg. air grinder with a 2 inch dia. sanding disc to enlarge and deepened the releifs. It was a bit of work but I was able to get plenty of clearence with that cam and 1.7s. It had .510 lift.

how close is a **** hair too close?? if you are talking .002 or .003(you should have .100) then a thicker head gasket will do fine. otherwise you need to flycut the pistons or go to the 1.6 rocker.
