On my wifes 82 Capri, (6cyl, auto) the detent cable inside the shift lever broke,(from what I hear, fairly common) I have the stock auto shifter from my 86 Mustang (WAS 4cyl, auto) & I want to change the levers over, but I don`t know how to get the handle off so I can the shift indicater base off for access to the nut. On my older Fords, the handle was chromed steel with an Allen head set screw that you removed to get the handle off, but both these shifters have black plastic handles without any visable set screw. I don`t want to destroy the shifters by trying brute force, anyone know how to get the plastic handles off?

Thanks, Tony, got the shifter levers swapped over today, the handle pulled straight off with a good tug. After I was finished, the handle snapped back on, nice & snug. Thanks again.
