my power attenna goes up when I start my 1995 cougar now even though the radio isn't
on...it stays up the whole time the car is running no matter what...

Is this a faulty ground wire??

If the power antenna was an aftermarket type and the car was not designed with circuit energized by the radio switch, the installing technician may have simply wired the antenna to the ignition switch. This is the simplest connection but has the disadvantage you have noticed. Are you sure there is not an underdash switch for the driver to control the position of the antenna?

it is factory installed...haven't had a problem with the car over the last 6 years except for one that was covered under the warranty...this is my first problem since the warranty ran out. Luckily it is a small one.

It only has 21K miles on it...i don't want any other problems!

For some reason the attenna has been working fine...maybe it was just a fluke.

Maybe it just needs a little spritz of silicone spray.
