I need some advice from the Grrrls. What I want to know is How can I convince my wife she is capable and it is safe enough ( if she follows my guidlines ) to back me and my car up into the water prior to a burnout then stand WAY back and hand signal me through the burnout? She knows how I've shown her, other girls have shown her but she still lacks confidence. I don't think she is scared, she knows I wouldn't want ANYTHING to EVER happen to harm her. She just doesn't think she can do it. I can normally convince her on dang near anything. Even letting me spend big money on crazy race car stuff, but she isn't moving on this. Should I just give up? I have quit trying. My buddy's wife lines me up in the grovve at the track, which suffices ( sigh ) her legs ain't as pretty as my wife's and well you know what I mean. Its a guy thing, my baby brings me luck.

You told her this???? I think if someone were to tell me that, I'd have to line 'em up!!!!

I dunno, maybe tell her you want her to line you up so that all the other guys know that she's your gal and your good luck????

being self-concious will make it difficult to be "in front" of people no matter how badly someone WANTS to do something....

i bet she is wanting to be there for you... but for some reason she feels like she will do it wrong or not be perfect or any number of imagined reasons .... maybe she is just worried people will be looking at her....

you know how some people wont get on to a crowded dance floor cause they are convinced the whole room is paying total and complete attention to them? maybe that is how she imagines she will feel in front of bleachers full of people?

you are on the right track though .... be supportive of her and encouraging tell her how much you need her to be there for you....

i have backed myself into the water countless times ... never backed anyone else in until november of last year .... and ... even though i KNOW what needs to be done... it was still a little unnerving the first time being out there trying to concentrate on what you are doing ... and not being a driver.... it was a completely different perspective for me.... looks different feels different and certainly sounds different....

i knew i had to watch carefully because we have a retaining wall on the right side of the right lane that my guy cant see from his side and there is a concrete wall behind the water ... and i knew he was watching me as i was watching the box... and that it is all a matter of timing and relaying the info .... and damn.... i just used the hand positions i was comfortable with ... and we didnt discuss those in the staging lanes... i just went with what i felt was most visually effective.... and ... so i worried about that part.... and all of this worrying took place in about the last 5 seconds before he pulled from the staging lanes onto the track!!!!

.... so it doesnt last long.... and i was fine .... he did fine ... we did fine... and life is good... .... i was damned proud to be out there on the track with him... helping him out... knowing he was really depending on me ....

if your track allows two pit crew in the pre-stage area.... ask her if she will at least go with your friends wifey and "shadow" her.... maybe she will see how uncomplicated it is and how quickly it is overwith....

i am sure she must be thinking "i can do that".......

keep us posted!!!

OH!!!!!! and welcome to M&M!!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice! and the welcome. Like I always say if you don't know the answer ask a Grrl. Often times ladies have a different insight especially when dealing with the female subject! Thanks!
