Yup, it just amazes me!! These are single women who want to be independent.

Sometime back one of the secretary's purchased a "new" used car (she traded in her Mustang for a Chebby!! ) The car was only a year or so old and I started asking her questions about it. Well, when I asked her about the condition of the engine, her reply was, "I dunno. I didn't even open the hood. I figured it only had 2000 miles on it and that was o.k. by me!!" My response to that was, well, I would have at least checked for oil leaks, the condition of the belts and hoses, etc...... At which she said, "I have no idea what your are talking about and wouldn't know what to look for."

Then the other day another one of my coworkers drove up in a brand new convertible (it's rice). Of course she was excited about it and equated it to my convertible (I think not, but I didn't show how offended I was). I asked her a couple of polite questions, all of which, in the very typical blonde response, "I don't know, I just liked the looks of it".....but don't drop the top, it'll mess up the hair... o.k........ whatever..... .....Then she went on to state how her son would be 16 soon and going to high school and how important it is for a teenager to have a nice car, blah, blah, blah.....but got my attention back when she said, "my parents bought me a brand new Dodge Charger when I was in High School and I still run into people who remember that car". Geez, wonder where that Dodge is now??????

Anyhow, it's a bit frustrating sometimes and I wonder at these women who want to NOT have to rely on anyone yet refused to learn anything new~~~~~ Oh well!! It's good to be a GRRL!!

I just thought I would defend some of the blondes out here who aren't typical, who would check out the engine compartment, and can't wait to feel the wind blowing thru our hair....

LuAnn.....

who is not typical by any stretch of the imagination and loves being a blonde...

Sorry LuAnn. Certainly did not mean to offend anyone, but this particular lady is well, I wonder how she gets to work some mornings..... It just amazes me!! Then I wonder if she just doesn't play up the "blonde" part a bit much. Surely it's got to be an act on her part, I mean, how could she survive if it's not????

I totally understand what you mean, Ked. These women get on my nerves, big time!! I work with a couple of them as well and some times you just want to shake them... I have a really low tolerance level for the "weak and helpless" female act, and some of them use it to the hilt!!!
Wise up...ya wimps!!!!

I'm trying to make sure that both my kids learn the basics about cars and then I can show them a little more of what I know(very limited, but still worth showing). I have told them that when they get older no one will be able to fix the old 68 because they will all be relying on computers, so they have to learn if they want to take care of the 68.

My wife, NEVER checks the oil... She is really good about having the oil changed every 3500 miles or so... She says if she does that,,, it's good enough...

She put 235,000 miles on our '87 Nissan Maxima and it never used a quart of oil...

So, If we ever have motor troubles because of low oil... She will turn it around that "she has never had this problem before" or "That car has always been a POS"...

It isn't worth arguing over....

Amen,Don. Give them something reliable, check it over every-so-often,and give her a triple A card.

My wife has the least bit of interest in cars. As long as it's got good tires,a full tank, and is clean, she's a happy GRRL!

Sometimes she's embarrassed to ride in my old iron, especially when other people notice it and come up to say something. Then again, that headliner just a flappin'in her hair probably doesn't help out matters, either!

My oldest daughter{8yrs old} is even worse! I picked them up after school one day with it and she crawled under the back seat so noone would see her! Revenge is sweet!

LuAnn, you are in the same class as my Robin, she is not bashful to jump right in & help me when I am working on one of our Stangs, she knows quite alot about cars. When we were dating the first time she met my mom she was elbow deep in engine grease my kind of grrrl. And yes she is also a blonde.
