Thats just so cool to me.
There are a few gassers that come to Hot August Nights. It's so neat to see them running around on the street.

If you all like gassers, you should go to the Garlits museum in Ocala.

Theres a couple of fairly famous ones there. Ohio George Montgomery's Willys and the Stone, Wood and Cook Willys.

You need to stand beside a Willys to appreciate how really small they are and what one would drive like with a blown hemi and straight axle front end.

The Anglias were worse yet. They are smaller, narrower and more top heavy.

Those guys had to have nerves of steel back then.

When I was a teenager 35 years ago in Los Angeles, my neighbor was Kay Sissel, the NHRA 6cyl altered record holder. A guy use to go to Kay's shop with a fiberglass body, alum. interior, single seat, Angelia with a 392 hemi. He drove it on the street. Every time he drove by, it was a thrill. Only exceeded by watching the blown-fuel altereds run.
