Back in 57 I was looking at a used car at Ford dealership. Cote Ford Motors in Mattapan Mass. On the lot they had a new pick-up w 2000 miles ,red & white style side. Where the emblem-F100 usualy is was in its place a round emblem w some kind of a slash thru it. I opened the hood & could not believe what I saw--- a Diesel. I remember you had to pull out a knob to either start it or shut it off?? Did they make diesel pick ups or was this a one of a kind???? --Thanks--S.

It was probably a custom installation. All the info I have shows only gas engines were available in the F-100's.

Don't forget, back then you could have a truck altered by a company for nearly any purpose, anybody remember the Marmon-Herrington 4 WD drive conversions done on late 30's-early 60's Fords? I'd guess that the truck was a special job by some cpmpany for a customer who wanted a diesel.
