1.What are you guys up to? 2.What are you working on? 3.What new plans are rolling around your brains?I am waiting for my fuel pump rebuild kit for my Holley fuel pump. Its the big honking unit with the allen screws in it. Holley used to get the pumps from Carter but now that Edelbrock is in bed with Carter, they sell them. I found this cool Edelbrock piece that will make my life easier. The fuel pump has two 1" ports, one points at my oil filter, the other at my oil pan. I had used some funky fittings and 200' of steel line tring to bend up the dream fuel system. I took the bottom off the pump so many freaking times, I think I must *&%$ed it up. Edelbrock makes this thingy that makes the inlet and outlet come out the bottom of the pump rather then the sides, cool! The fitting sizes match my 3/8" line too. (I had to buy it) now I will have to bend up some more hard line. On the bright side my mystical bolt bucket now has a much larger selection of stange fittings in it (thanks to my brake line and fuel line remodel). I have not worked on my II in a while but, I had an axle seal blow out of the Lincoln. I had scored the car dirty cheap because the four wheel disc brakes were totaly shot and the rear end was making a death grind. I replaced all the brakes and put a junk yard rear-end in. I was really upset when the seal (new) blew. It turned out the diff vent was rusted shut and caused the failure The hardest part of the job was taking off the wheels, the idiots at the tire shop wrecked my wheel locks and then desided to impact them back on. I showed up eveyday for a week to bitch (they reluctently removed them for free, breaking two removel tools in the process) The noise in the Scourt type R that my wife discribed as "the wheel sounds like it's falling off!" turned out to be a smashed plastic shroud thingy bouning around under the car. She claims she did not run anything over, but the nose bra is ripped and there is a scratch in the bumper cover under the car too. I belive her though The fuel pump kit should be in soon so look forward to many more II fixing stories real soon. (no more filler Lincoln and Scourt stories) ------------------ 1978 mustang II t-top mach 1 1991 lincoln mark 7 1997 escort wagon type R [email protected]

heh heh...I read the topic of this thread and can't help it..."What are YOOOUU doing?!!" "Pick up the cordless!!!" LOL...love that commercial. Uh. Anyways... 1. about 6'. Other than that, not much...bought a new digital camera today that I'm kinda playing with. 2. Working on...working. Making more money. I got some new wheels for my '99 that I put on the other day...but before I did that, I took the Ghia out for a spin as I do each week. "Meeemmmorrieeeees..." 3. No new plans. Though I think I have kinda revised my plan for the Ghia's audio system....read on, if you like. Back about 2 1/2 years ago, the aftermarket Pioneer unit that I installed one week after originally purchasing the Ghia (way back in '94) kinda quit on me. Turns out the wires from the harness must've been too close to the heating duct under the dash, so it melted the insulation and broke the wires loose from the connectors. Eventually ended up with no sound from the head unit, and no power to/from it (whichever is appropriate). Driving around without tunes drove me crazy...but I got used to it. It was really batty when I drove 7 hours down to Charlotte NC without anything other than the drone of the engine revving at 3000 RPM!! I decided I wanted an original radio, just for the nostalgia. Then, I also found a place that does conversions...they'll take the original radio, swap out the antique circuitry for new, modern guts, and even add a plug-in for CD players!! Happy day! So I found a radio...from a '73 Maverick. The seller said it should fit. So I bought it for a decent price. Then paid the $400, and 6 months, for the conversion. Once I got it back, that's when I found out that it DOESN'T FIT IN THE GHIA!! AAAUUUGH! So I found an original working AM/FM/8-track unit from a '78 II. I was going to send this one out for the conversion as well, but since I now have the '99 with a stereo system, I may just put the AM/FM/8-track into the Ghia as is, and sell the Maverick radio. So...who has something interesting going on? ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good" '76 Cobra--project [This message has been edited by IIGood (edited 05-26-2001).]

Im still looking out the kitchen window at mine under a blue tarp crying for me each time I see it.I can hear it weeping,"PLEASE TAKE ME OUT". Short time and $$. But just learned that the bigger bell housing can be put in the II. http://granvillestang.mustangii.net/ This car has the bigger bell housing. He had to change the starter.Im not sure exactly what he used for a starter. Seeing I have all the bigger stuff,Maybe I'll just up size it instead. He's also got side pipes on his II,ummm! Beats that dual exhaust out the back prob.Dont know about emission laws on those but,I'll throw that idea around for a while. The only thing I dont like about making the pipes run out the back is not being able to bend both sides the same, and tring to keep the lengths the same.It makes one side sound different then the other. I think IM gonna pull it out and just give it some cheap elbow grease ,Im getting itchy, there's 3 of them running around my town.

I kinda like those side pipes, and they would solve the duel pipe problem. Bob R.

My white '77 has the complete C4 setup from a '68 stang in it , including the large bellhousing. Be aware that headers will not fit with the big bell, but the OE manifolds will work.

[QUOTE]Originally posted by mustangj: [B]1.What are you guys up to? 2.What are you working on? 3.What new plans are rolling around your brains?UPDATE! 1. I am really busy adding rice to Civics at my speed shop (Performance Improvements) [shameless plug]. 2. I was working on the II today, My 3 year old son and I removed the fuel pump and took it apart. It looks good in there, Uhoh on to plan B. (I have a strange oil/gas contamination issue). 3. I plan to drop off the film with my true duel exhaust pictures, to the photo developers on the way to work tomorrow. I will post them if I figure out how to (I am way computer stupid!). Other ideas include worring about the condition of my short block (I am running out of ideas.) Next step the carb's power valve? checking the floats? compression checks? pulling the heads off for a better look? replacing the motor mounts with velcro and adding a zipper to the transmission? A new project car I have been thinking about lately would be an 85 LTD II painted that new dark mustang blue color. It would have custom 16" steel wheels and dog dish hub caps. It would be powered by an H.O 5.0l with a T-45/ T-56 hybrid 6 speed. I told this story before but it rocks, so here goes: My good freind Dan had an LTD II wagon. It was nearing summer and he could not find a motor-home for his hot 302H.O 5spd combo. So he bought a dirty cheap LTD II wagon and put the gear in it. When we went to the drag strip he drove it down every dirt road he could find (detailing). When we got there Dan dusted a dude with mommy and daddy just bought me a new f-body. (you never seen a guy get so mad). The wagon has forever changed me. It was yick tan with dog dish hubcaps. The great thing about it was you could drive around steath without getting hasled by the fuzz. When I had my last II I got pulled over alot for no reason and sometimes for good reason ------------------ 1978 mustang II t-top mach 1 1991 lincoln mark 7 1997 escort wagon type R [email protected]

I tried a granny mobile to avoid police... I have never been pulled over in my II... Bought a Craprice because I needed something bigger... I came across a crashed Crapmaro with a 383 so I bough it for next to nothing and slapped the engine in my car.. Damn thing ran mid 13's with the econo gears still in there... I hit a few deer with it replaced several body panels. Had a 2 tone grey and white car with a beige fender blue front doors, black header panel, and a rusty hood... A whole lot of fun at the read lights... Even if it was Craprolet I wish I wouldn't have sold that motor.... Damned tuition anyhow...My next venture is going to be Mopar(Sort of)... The Fords all work and I am leaving them the hell alone.. I bought a 90 Shadow with a 3.0 and a 5 speed for $100... Seemes to run okay except the shifter sucks.... I am looking for about an 82-85 2 door Reliant/Aries to plant that in.... Maybe an Omni as a last resort...

[QUOTE]Originally posted by Maxwell_fax: "I bought a 90 Shadow with a 3.0 and a 5 speed for $100"Maxwell your sick, do you want to be my best freind? I don't think I will have much trouble with the police this time around. I am older and wiser, then when I was a street racing punk. Besides in my area the ricer crowd has become public enemy number one, they seam to leave the V8 crowd alone. I think cops target kids because their easy pick'ns, they don't fight the charges! I am a closet Mopar fan, I love Shelby Charger's and GLH Omni's. I think a 3.0l 5spd Omlet would be fun, however it would need a 60hp shot of nitrous. ------------------ 1978 mustang II t-top mach 1 1991 lincoln mark 7 1997 escort wagon type R [email protected]

I had much more problems with the large 4 door.. Of course the 4 guys all in black riding around in it didn't help... At least I was lucky enuff to have a sister that urged me to fight tickets all the time... They soon learn to let you be...Hmm a K-car on the bottle... Gotta get the doaner body first... All I can seem to find cheap with bad engine or trans are Omnis... I'd still rather have the Reliant/Aries... More room in them... I hate being cramped behind the wheel...

I am only 5' 9" (mostly in the upper body)in the charger I had to tilt my head to fit. That's why I love fords, in the II and the Lincoln you sit on the floor and have a perfect veiw though the mid-windsheild. The Omni could be a GLH-plus kinda deal but the k-car? ------------------ 1978 mustang II t-top mach 1 1991 lincoln mark 7 1997 escort wagon type R [email protected]
