hi everyone!!!!it is that lovely time for us to begin planning our 2003: 4th Annual M&M Doo-Dah WOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!! and!!! in 2003 we go west of the Mississippi... now! everyone gets to play!! here is PHASE ONE: the first thing we need to do is to take suggestions from everyone regarding a FANTASTIC "west-of-the-big-river" location to have our get-together! we need a really cool car related event the same weekend .... preferably (of course) a FORD event... but muscle and classic and cool will be taken into consideration!!! so will awesome collections and museums and so forth!! please use THIS topic to post your suggestions... please include... WHERE WHEN and then sell us on ... WHY!!!! keep in mind we want good accomodations with lots of places for food and drink close by and a lounge IN the hotel so we can lounge-lizard out in the afternoons .... heh heh heh.... a close proximity to a major airport and a high probability of LOTS OF M&M'ers making it to the event!!!!!! i will take care of all the details once a city is selected... working with sales departments for the best hotel rates, any comping-out of event tickets or whatever that may be available.... so dont worry about that part.... right now all we want is suggestions... here is an example of what we are looking for: where: anywhere, USA when: july 14th - 21st why: the most awesome all ford show and race ever...i have gone to this the past four years and it rocks!!! the hotel i stayed in was the blah-blah-america and the rates were reasonable ... the rooms super clean and drink specials were incredible!! i recommend this event to everyone!!! (if there is a weblink with more info please include it !) OKAY!!! everyone got it??? lets begin!! phase two will consist of the moderators selecting 5 popular suggested locations as "semi-finalists" and steve will set up a voting site for you to decide where you want the gig to happen!!!!! woooooohoooooo!!! so....if someone posts a place etc that you agree with... dont be shy!! let us know you LOVED it and would certainly go back!!! that way it helps us choose the semi's for voting!!! OH MY GOD!!! I AM EXCITED ALREADY !!!!! kk

Ok! If I understand this right it's where, when and why. Here it goes.Option 1 Where: Shangri-La Resort in Nud ?? ummmm New River, Arizona When: Sometime Next October Why: Because it would make for an interesting show. You never know who might pop u?.errrr pop in with a new car. Not only that, but we need support for the ones who show their Fords at the resort. It always seems to be a Corvette crowd who over runs this show. Besides, we can show each Corvette droopy butt owner who has the better body. Option 2 Where: Knotts Berry Farm (Close to Anaheim California) When: In March (I believe) Why: From my reliable reports on the all Ford Show Day - I've been told this is the place to see and to be seen. Option 3 Where: Las Vegas When: In March or April Why: Spring Fling attracts all sorts of cars from the Southwest. From what I been told this show host a fairly large turn out. Option 4 Where: Scottsdale, Arizona When: January Why: Scottsdale holds one of the biggest car auctions known as Barrett-Jackson. However, two things: 1.) I been told they're moving the auction into Phoenix and 2.) I think it is known now only as Barrett's. Option 5 Where: Durango, Colorado When: June (I think - J help me out on this) Why: A weekend of racing and shows for the Mustangs! Option 6 Where: Van Nuys, California When: July Why: Mustangs in the park. Not really over stated with a lot of Cars though. Just a few. I still have more.

Sorry guys, but we did Reno last year and I have no desire to go back (sorry Scoop). Here's my $.02:Mustang Roundup presented by Mustangs Northwest in Bellevue, Washington Thursday July 17th- Sunday July 20th (if I remeber right) Itenerary (if same as recent past): thursday: open track day at Seattle Raceway friday: POny Trail by Mustang Monthly, cruising about 200 miles with 265 mustangs in tow( world's largest pony trail BTW) saturday: judged show with approx. 150 concours cars in attendance sunday: participants choice show with 1400 mustangs/fords in show (that's right folks 1413 this year, always world's largest annual show). Selling points!!! 1. Suburb of beautiful Seattle and less than 30 minutes from SeaTac airport. 2. Lots to see and do in Seattle, which is less than 45 minutes from show site. 3. Pony trail takes in some of the most scenic countryside you can imagine in and around Puget Sound (like I said this year there were 265 mustangs in the caravan). It's always a BLAST!!! 4. 1400 mustangs at one show!!! Enough said. 5. Great restaurants and mucho hotels in the vicinity of the show (although I kind of like the Hotel 6 due to the fact it is reasonable, secluded, 10 minutes from the show, has an IHOP in the same lot with several other restaraunts within a mile and a Krispy Kreme just around the corner). 6. 1400 mustangs at one show!! 7. Judged and Particpants choice shows are held on the beautiful campus of Bellevue Community College, which makes for a very peaceful and nice show area. 8. Did I mention 1400 mustangs at one show!! OK, I've been to this show just two years running (this past one was their 22nd annual) and participated in the Pony Trail for the first time this year. But I am NEVER going to miss another Pony Trail or this show again if I can help it. I'm not trying to give this the hard sell (OK, I am ), but I truly believe anyone who attends will not be disappointed. Here's hoping this one makes the cut!!

New Orleans would be great. The Hurricanes at Pat O'Brian's are the best in the whole world. Plus, it's only a 6ish hour drive from where I live. The biggest thing you have to take into consideration about Reno is that the beautiful hotel/casinos weren't built with the money that people won...

I also agree with the Roundup in Bellevue. For all the reasons Duane posted, but I am planning to attend anyway. It is WAAAAYYY out on the very Northwest, which could be to far for many M&Mers however. Therefore I also recommend, as I have numerous times in the past, the Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup in Steamboat Springs, CO. Fathers Day weekend. June 12-15. Last year were 400 stangs. They also host a Pony Trails cruise, fabulous BBQ, and a big autocross for you racers. Steamboat is a beautiful ski resort about 100 northwest of Denver. If you have to fly into Denver, maybe we could also make a M&M field trip to the Shelby museum in Boulder, CO. Also if you chose to fly into SLC in time. You could rent a stang and caravan with my club. Usually about 25-30 cars. Or you could ride shot gun with someone. My family usually take 4 or 5 stangs to the roundup. Another thought might be the International Meet held over Labor Day weekend which would allow for more travel time and time off work for some. It is being held in Missoula, MT. How about a little side trip to Glacier Park? Thanks Don for the suggestion of my show as hosting the M&M gathering. But I want to play! and there is too much work for me during my show. J. Arizona would be great anytime!! Except their "monsoon" season!! Have you ever seen those dry "gulches" fill up? You don't really want to be around it... A few gang members running around too.Just trying to get every one in on this. Plenty of rooms,no they are not the most cheap rooms. SCOOP

I think this would be my 2nd choice now.My wife grandma lives near KnottsBerry farm. And I always wanted to go to that show.I could not bring scoop down there. And if you've never been to HollyWood after nidnight, your in for a real site. And Pinks Hot dogs known world wide the best dog on the west. And the kids all love Knottsberry farm too. There are a few small drag stips near there too. So Reno would still be my 1st choice.Lots to see and do during Hot August Nights. And the BIG kids all love Reno.

Some of these suggestions are "Knott" too bad Bellevue Roundup is good too... Bowling Green would be a good event, but so is the California Hot Rod Reunion (in October) and March Meet (in March...surprise!),both in scenic Bakersfield. Bakersfield will thrill C&W fans (if any) by visiting Buck Owens Crystal Palace. The rest of us can loiter around the car scene. Zonies car show might be OK too... 'cause nobody has smaller penii (that the plural? I only have one) than Corvette guys!

H.A.N is good too... lotsa cars, lotsa babes, and i suppose that's better than checking out Corvette owners shortcomings.

If Knott's is one of the choices (which isn't all that bad either) there are a few problems with that.First is the show is always the third sunday in April, which might make it hard for folks with youngins in school. Plus it is a one day show and like I said, it is on sunday only. You will probably be hard pressed to find a reasonably priced hotel in that area that is in a safe neighborhood. I know from experience because I lived directly across the street from Knotts for a couple of years. Of course, this really doesn't concern me too much because my folks still live within easy driving distance of there (hehehe). Now having said that, this is one of the shows I always think about attending (but never have). It is always one of the larger all Ford shows in SoCal and is in a beautiful setting. Plus the region has plenty of other stuff to occupy our time before the show, like the "Donut Derelicts" weekly saturday gathering in Huntington Beach and plenty of "scenery" while down in that neighborhood Anyway, this would have to be one of my top three choices (this show, Steamboat Springs or Bellevue) ------------------ Duane 71 Fastback (his) under resto (351C-4V C6 auto) 73 Mach 1 (hers) (351CJ 4 speed) 66 289/2V coupe (daughter Ashley's) 89 LX 2.3 convertible (daughter Amanda's) M & M Member #730

Check with Ked because last year the Rodeo was in Reno while we were there and if I remember correctly she spent most of her time chasing "wrangler butts" (hehehehe) ------------------ Duane 71 Fastback (his) under resto (351C-4V C6 auto) 73 Mach 1 (hers) (351CJ 4 speed) 66 289/2V coupe (daughter Ashley's) 89 LX 2.3 convertible (daughter Amanda's) M & M Member #730

The way things are going, my house might be empty by then. I'll just stay in the basement and leave the upstairs vacant for the M&M crowd! (Right now there is a fifteen year old girl and a twelve and a ten year old girl upstairs. The rest of us would never get to use the phone! )

Two items: First, regarding Hot August Nights. If you don't already have reservations, you're not staying there at a decent hotel. We already have our reservations there at the Silver Legacy and the last time I looked on-line (late August) all of the major hotels were either already booked or you could stay at Harrah's for $249 a night. The only exception was the Eldorado that doesn't accept reservations for next year until January. Also, M&M has been there and done that once already.Secondly, The Mustang Round-up is a great event lasting four days. Those of us that showed up (Ian?) had a blast this year and we're already looking forward next year. ------------------ Dave 1993 5.0 LX convertible. 1996 Bronco (yes, it is a "full size". Alex, nothing wrong with Country music but really Branson is a good location, there is more to do than country shows there. My wife and I have a time share retreat on the Lake near Kimberling city. No need to take in the shows. Too busy horse back riding, swimming, fishing, etc..etc.. there is also a VEry nice set of caverns there. Great national monument. just a thought Jerry

HELLO! SC P, we did Reno last year, Remember???You admitted you were "lurking" way back then, but didn't try to find us and we are all hurt!! We'll get KK behind the room hunting deal...she got us a great deal in Reno...and just promise me you'll go the Peppermill Buffet and "eat one for me" !! I'm sure there's lots of things to do in BRANSON, MO. than C&W shows...anyway, some of you city-slickers need to just LISTEN to those words...what is better than your dog, your grrl, and your truck??? OK! My FORD is important to me, too!

My vote so far would have to go to either Colorado, or the Washington show. I especially like the idea of the Washington show. That makes it incredibly easy for the BC folks to attend.
