Why is it you can drive 1000 miles across the country, thru 5 states or more, and only find 2 good radio stations, 3 or 4 mediocre stations, and a WHOLE lot of sh*t stations (country, rap crap or hit 100 teenie bopper junk)? And the really sad thing is, both of the really good stations were less than 350 miles from Iowa (one was in Indianapolis, the other was in Peoria). And to top that off, everyone on the bad stations must have the same playlist as we heard the same songs over and over and over and over and over.......It's just really frustrating knowing that so much of the radio airwaves is dominated by the same mind numbing drivel from one end of the country to the next. Basically, thank god for a good cd burner

Best station I ever caught traveling was in N. Fl. They played 60/70's classics that weren't heavy top ten tunes. Man! What a gas-catching songs you forgot! Caught "Baker Street" yesterday! That's a goody!

You can thank the fine folks at Clearsource Communications for that. We just had a new 80's station start up out of Atlanta a few months ago and it only took 2 days before your could predict what the next song was going to be. Sheesh....

I agree with ya Kid.. When I drove to FL earlier this year, I learned all the new pop songs. I heard the same music every hour on a different station. I was in heaven when I got my CD player for the car.I switched cars for the summer to drive one with a/c and it didn't have a cd player.. I liked to went mad. I am not a morning person, Don't even talk to me til after 10. The last thing I wanted to hear was some DJ thinking he was funny, with some ditsy sidekick laughing along with him on my way to work.. I had to get one of those portable cd players to hook in to the cassette to save my sanity. I think my coworkers woulda chipped in and bought it for me.. I was in such a foul mood by the time I got to work, they were wishing I hadn't showed up.. Shell

Good radio is hard to find... In the chicago region here, we've got a few mediocre stations... the classic rock/oldies stations overplay their collection... 'sniff.. I miss the old days of radio variety and alot of it.--mark BTW, which Indy station was it? They got some good stations in Indy. ------------------ '66 Mustang Coupe '90 Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible '85 F150 XLT 302 '97 Ranger XLT extended cab '96 GMC Jimmy 4X4 (the wife's)

I sorta like Alan Jackson, but then again I like Led Zepplin also. I'm pretty easy to please. We have a good classic rock station out of tupelo, MS. Actually I don't have a problem with the music they play. I listen to country or classic rock. The problem I have is with all the commercials and the wanna-be-funny DJ's. It's ridiculous. They talk for 30 minutes and play one song. If i listen to my Cd player on the way to work I can get in 4 songs, radio maybe one.

Well, it just like any other city I guess, but IMHO it just a sore spot in an absolutely beautiful state. [This message has been edited by SuzyQ (edited 08-09-2002).]
