Good for you Steve! Now let me in on how you managed to do it and not kill anyone??? I know if I tried, I would kill a few of my current students. But that might not be smoking related. Congratulations Steve...its been a little over one year for me !!! Dave....the patches were the only way I was able to do it. Ken, The Navy is the only branch of service that won't give us the patch. They will give us a support group and classes. But thats it. Of course they have restricted where we can smoke, big time. Oh well. My day will come. Sooner than later. Dave & Terri ------------------ Poison Ivy (Dave's) '65 Fastback Modified 289 4V, C-4, dual exhaust, styled steel wheels, rally pac, A/C

Congrats, Steve. July 24 made 8 months for me. During that time: 1) Water heater flooded the house 2) House flooded again 3) Wife went through surgery 4) House floods once again 5) My boss got fired and a dud was hired in his place 6) Wife admitted to hospital for an infection 7) Server upgrade from Hades 8) Wife goes through another surgery. It is a wonder I have not gone postal... LOL Speaking of postal, here is the standing joke I tell in the office: I tried to get a job at the post office when I retired from the Army. The postal service checked my military record and found I was an expert with a rifle and decided that they couldn't deal with that kind of a mortality rate... (Of course, I never applied to the post office for a job. I wanted to get abused as a computer/network tech) ------------------ Motor Safe! Thats great Steve! Are you chomping on gum instead? Remember, the jones only last a minute, slow deep breaths will help you get through it.

That's Great Steve! This is probably one of the toughest things you will do, but it is worth it. I quit 21 years ago from a 4 pack a day Pall Mall non-filter habit. The actual physical addiction is gone fairly soon, but the psychological desire lasts for a long time! You can do it! You won't be sorry! Later! Joel

You'll be back. Especially if you haven't quit drinking. My problem is that I am to hyper and I like smoking too much. Now drinking I have been able to live without since January of 2000.

STEVE ,Good for you , I smoked for 28 years , and , the last 7 years of that was 4 packs per day. I finally quit , with the help of zyban , only after quitting about 1000 times before that ( Dad also died of lung cancer from smoking , big incentive ). The one thing that will make you quit or not , is , you have to want to quit. If you don,t want to, you will go back to it. If you do go back , don,t feel bad it is normally the first step to the road of finally quiting for good. You seem like the type of guy that , if you put your mind to something you will do it. Congrats on your efforts so far , you will do it , and , feel much better for it. Just as an incentive , the money I saved from smoking paid for the 65 fastback that I now own , and , is slowly paying for the resto I am doing on it JOHN ------------------ 65 2+2 FASTBACK 68 COUPE 87 TAURUS WAGON 98 F150 XLT TRITON V8 4.6, 4 WHEEL DRIVE Member:Vancouver Island Mustang Association M&M #1710 MyPhotoPage MY TRUCK

I quit cold turkey. I smoked pipes and cigars, so it's probably a lot easier to quit. This is the second time I've quit. I quit smoking in '81 and I didn't start back up until a couple years ago. ------------------ All Fords since 1977!

In early December of 1998, my Dad quit cold turkey, after having smoked an average of a pack and a half a day for 65 of his 80 years at that time. He has not had a cigarette since, no gum, no food substitutes. Nothing. There are a lot of quit-smoking gimmicks on the market, but that is just for the companies to make huge profits. All it really takes is willpower. Cold turkey is definitely the way to go. Ever see that movie, with Dick VanDyke? Where the whole town went Cold Turkey? ------------------ David Spread Joy.
