Now knowing women as I do, EVERY woman or should I say Grrl, on M&M will of course look at this thread anyway. It's in their nature. They just have to see what us guys are talking about.
Anyway, have you guys heard the song by Toby Keith "What about me?" ? Better still, have you seen the video? You all know that I am not fond of C&W music, but this song and especially the video typifies so many relationships these days. Anyone who has been or is in a relationship for over a year can relate. When I first heard the song, then saw the video I could not beleive how well TOby Keith conveys the modern day heterosexual partnership. You have to tune in to CMTV or your hillbilly MTV equivilant in your area and watch it. At least listen to the song on the radio. It plays about once every ten minutes on the C&W stations. Guys, go out of your way to listen to the song and watch the video. You will crack up and be able to relate soooooo well. Especially if you are the 2nd or 3rd banana in YOUR relationship.

WHAT ABOUT ME?

You want me to listen to country music?

The last time I listened to country music was at the dodge dealership. They played it all the time there, for some reason.

Its called "I wanna talk about me" alex . The song actually annoys me (probably because its overplayed and I dont even listen to country music all the time), I much prefer his new song "My list". Ok, here's the lyrics for anyone who hasnt heard it:

We talk about your work how your boss is a jerk
We talk about your church and your head when it hurts
We talk about the troubles you've been having with your brother
About your daddy and your mother and your crazy ex-lover
We talk about your friends and the places that you've been
We talk about your skin and the dimples on your chin
The polish on your toes and the run in your hose
And God knows we're gonna talk about your clothes
You know talkin' 'bout you makes me smile
But every once in awhile

I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Old my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
How I like talking about you you you you usually, but occassionally
I wanna talk about me

I wanna talk about me

We talk about your dreams and we talk about your schemes
your high school team and your moisturizer creme
We talk about your nanna up in Muncie, Indiana
We talk about your grandma down in Alabama
We talk about your guys of every shape and size
The ones that you despise and the ones you idolize
We talk about your heart, 'bout your brains and your smarts
And your medical charts and when you start
You know talkin' 'bout you makes me grin
But every now and then

I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Old my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you you you you usually, but occassionally
I wanna talk about me

I wanna talk about me

You you you you you you you you you you you
I wanna talk about me

I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Old my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you you you, usually, but occassionally
I wanna talk about me
I wanna talk about me
Old me

How many of have had to sit through hours of fitting and trying on clothes only to wind up in an argument afterwards because THEY didn't like what THEY picked out?
How often do we get invited to interesting fitting rooms like Victoria's Secret or Fredericks? Like.......NEVER!

I agree with Steve. Depressing music.

Remember that country oldie, "You picked a fine to leave me Lucille, five hungry children and a crop in the field."

Maybe I listen to other music because I don't want to hear about "the crop in the field".

I remember a song called "Feelings" that was sung in English and French. When it came on I had to turn off the radio. I just didn't want to go there.

Started doing things to get off the subway, 'cause I just couldn't ride anymore.

I do know what you mean Alex.
I just dont let it get to that level.
I make sure we talk about I.
Sure I have done the shopping thing.I dont go any more,no more problem.
I'm not saying my marriage is prefect. But my wife and I work very hard at keeping it all good.

I feel as a man you have to make sure that your wife is aware,of your likes and needs too.Even if that means rocking the boat now and then.My wife and I have had many highs and lows. But we are both lucky to another that really wants it to work out.
I'm not trying to sound like I'm one my soap box.
Because we have days when anywhere but here sounds good.

So What About Me...

I was downloading some music on MORPHEOUS.com and I must be going through some changes...

First I downloaded some old Bluegrass by Earl Scruggs & Bill Monroe... 5 minutes later I was downloading ACDC...:confused...

If you like a bluegrass sound there is a new group called "Nickel Creek"... Pretty good stuff...

So What About MeeeEEEeee...

Actually, how do you like me now, is one of toby keiths best songs (p.s he is the guy in the cowboy hat on the 1800collect comercials) and Shoulda been a cowboy is great too.

I personally like music from most genres, so I ain't pickin sides, though i have a fondness for classic country.. modern country is ok, but the line between country and pop is fading...

Here's the difference in music as I see it.

In classic music you create mood without words, like paintings in the air.

In rock, you ROAR and tell the world to **** off!

In country music you whine.

Actually, it's the 10-10-220 commercials. The ones with Terry Bradshaw and Mike Piazza.

Good ol' C & W. A few?? LOL! moons ago, in my 55 Chev with a honey who liked C&W working on our "Night Moves"! Music coming up from Del Rio Tx, transmitting out of Mexico. A goodbye baby from a REAL C& W cowboy' Bemis Woods still there on Ogden and Wolf Rd., Alex?

That big 8 wheeler movin down the track,
means your true lovin Daddy aint comin back,
I'm movin on, I'll soon be gone
You were flyin too high for my little ol sky
I'm moving on.

Warned you baby from time to time,
you wouldnt listen or pay me any mind
I'm moving on I'll soon be gone
You pulled the switch, now hit the ditch
I'm movin' on!

There's loads more. 'Stead of saying 'I'm outta here'....'I'm pulling a Hank Snow'! An all time great! Still use that saying, once in awhile.

I was spoiled in my marriage, and would never relate to that song however, dipping into the "singles scene" I can relate to it in some way....
But I'm an interesting dude (at least I think so),,,,I'll listen, but I'll talk also....and if I get tuned out...it's her loss....
Not much for country music....but I always liked the one titled, "My wife ran away with my best friend, and I sure do miss him !!"
Personally I'll take Harold Melvin's "If You Don't Know Me By Now"..as a "relationship song.

Left my cows in the barn last night!
When I woke, I had a terrible fright!
Thought my cattle had gone!
My woman, she done me wrong!
And nuttin' in the world,
was right!

WHY must you guys write posts about country music, it makes me sick to read them. Now talk to me about classic rock & that is a different story.
