Hey all, I had to move my SVO outside for a few days while we cleaned out the garage... I had it under a cover, and then a tarp over top (because the cover is only water "resistant" not waterproof!) Anyways, sometime while it was outside a cat decided to use it as a urinal. It reeks, and I don't want to put uric acid on the finish of my car.

Does anyone know how to wash these things? It came with the car and looks relatively old (like an evolution cover but brownish yellow in colour, not grey) If I can find a machine big enough, can I just throw it in there with some detergent? Any tips? THANKS!

I take mine to a laundamat and wash it in the biggest machine they have. Well I actually do two of them, one for each car. Never had a problem. RAY

Yeah the laundrymat is the only way I know of. Use a light detergent in a industrial size machine.

ditto!!!

hit the mat and use a double-loader....

and for the peeeee smell
spray it down with lysol BEFORE you wash it
and see if that cuts down the nose-burn first!

if you are lucky enough to be able to let it sit in the sun after spraying it, that helps also.

unless a tag on it says you can dry it....DONT.... take it home damp and let it air dry....or just air-dry it with no heat in the mat-tumblers.

I ran a laundromat for years. Use at least a thirty five pound machine.(About four bucks.)
Then follow K.K.s instructions.

From Califoria Car Cover,
Use Woolite or Fantastik All-Purpose Cleaner. It must be washed at a
commercial laundromat, in one of the large machines. Wash in cold or warm
water, on gentle or permanent press. Run through two rinse cycles and then
air dry. Do not put in a dryer or dry clean.

I was in the commerical Textile rental Biz.

Use the front loaders, They're easier to open

Hey, Wes. Dang cats!! I took my cover over to Squeaky's Laundromat on Shelbourne. They ran it through their machine for me and gave it a light drying too. The fellow there seems to know about them - said he's washed quite a few of them. The cover turned out fine, so I assume he knows what he's talking about. I would have done it there myself, but they only had one machine big enough and he offered to wash it for me, and told me to just come by in a couple of hours.

Hope this helps...

Have a great Christmas!!

Thanks for the tips everyone!

When I came home today, my mom had already taken it to the laundromat for me! Aren't moms fantastic? Especially "car-moms"... I never asked her to do it, and when I offered her some ca$h for her time she just said "Merry Christmas!"

Thanks again, and I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!
