Yep, we are safe and sound at Casey's parents place in N.E. Atlanta, but the Pathfinder needs some work.

BUT, this morning coming through Nashville, I was on the exit from I-440E to I-24E and there's lots of construction. Seems that as I was going onto the offramp, traffic unexpectedly stopped in front of me. Despite having electric brakes on the trailer, towing the loaded down mustang just gave me too much momentum to stop in time. I guess they were redoing the ramp itself, as we were already driving on the shoulder, and there was a sign immediately to my right, construction on the left, thus no room to swerve to avoid the collision. I managed to swing enough to just hit the front corner of my pathfinder with the rear corner of the geo metro, but still have some nice damage to fix. Looks like I need a headlight, bumper, fender, and the heavy plastic peice below the bumper the houses the turnsignals. Luckily the hood is ok, I should be able to have a new fender painted to match and install everything else myself. I doubt it will be much more than my $500 deductable anyhow. Looks like just cosmetic repairs, no frame or other important damage.

As we sat there with the police, I couldn't help but notice that the traffic was moving really smoothly. I just sat there stewing over the fact that it had to come to a complete stop while I was there and then cleared immediately. WTF?

Oh well, **** happens, I have good insurance (USAA), and already have an appointment with an appraiser and they will hand me a check on the spot. I'm just glad we're ok, could have been a lot worse.

Sam,
Sorry to hear about the fender bender.
That really sucks. But the good news is that you two are fine and don't have any injuries. The pathfinder can be repaired. Glad that the Mustang wasn't hurt either. Hang in there and take care.

Sam
Welcome to Nashville, construction in every direction. Four lane Interstates that all reduce down to one lane with no prior notice. Brother in law called me about 8:00 pm, he was stuck in the same place you had your fender bender for over an hour. We had a club meeting thursday night, left an hour early just to get there on time. I'm just glad to hear that no one was hurt other than pride.

Glad to hear you made it there fine Sam, even though the Pathfinder didn't. At least it was minor enough to NOT cause any injuries.
What N.E. Atlanta city is Casey from? Sherra and I lived in Duluth for 2 years!!

Glad you're okay and the Mustang wasn't damaged. Guess we could start a "who is your insurance company" thread. Mine is USAA also thanks to my former dependent of a member status.

Sorry Sam,
Nashville was a very unfriendly place to me one time too.
I'm glad you, the family and stang are okay and that the damage to the Pathfinder is minimal.
Take care,
J.

That sucks, Sam!! Glad you and Casey are o.k., though.

USAA is good insurance. They've carried us (through the hubby's multiple fender benders) for over 15 years. When I bought the convertible last year, I thought I would see if I could find cheaper coverage without his name (and points) being on the policy. Nope. Didn't happen ~ so I stayed where I was!

Yeah, the real kicker of it is that I've been with GEICO for about 5 years now, and my USAA policy went into effect 3 days ago. I feel real more bad about having an accident 2 days into the policy than anything else.

Casey's parents right off of exit 91 on I-85.
